Wednesday of the Sixteenth Week in Ordinary Time
+ 탈출기 16, 1-5. 9-15
< 내가 하늘에서 너희에게 양식을 비처럼 내려 주리라. >
해설) 이스라엘이 이집트를 떠나 한 달째 되는 보름 날 신 광야에 이릅니다. 이스라엘 백성은 이 광야에서 모세와 아론에게 투덜거립니다. 그러자 주님께서 하늘에서 먹을 것을 내려주십니다. 주님께서는 만나와 메추라기로 당신 백성을 배불리 먹이심으로써, 당신을 일용할 양식을 주시는 분으로 계시하십니다.
1 이스라엘 자손들의 온 공동체는 엘림을 떠나, 엘림과 시나이 사이에 있는 신 광야에 이르렀다. 그들이 이집트 땅에서 나온 뒤, 둘째 달 보름이 되는 날이었다. 2 이스라엘 자손들의 온 공동체가 광야에서 모세와 아론에게 불평하였다. 3 이들에게 이스라엘 자손들이 말하였다. “아, 우리가 고기 냄비 곁에 앉아 빵을 배불리 먹던 그때, 이집트 땅에서 주님의 손에 죽었더라면! 그런데 당신들은 이 무리를 모조리 굶겨 죽이려고, 우리를 이 광야로 끌고 왔소?”4 주님께서 모세에게 말씀하셨다. “이제 내가 하늘에서 너희에게 양식을 비처럼 내려 줄 터이니, 백성은 날마다 나가서 그날 먹을 만큼 모아들이게 하여라. 이렇게 하여 나는 이 백성이 나의 지시를 따르는지 따르지 않는지 시험해 보겠다. 5 엿샛날에는, 그날 거두어들인 것으로 음식을 장만해 보면, 날마다 모아들이던 것의 갑절이 될 것이다.” 9 모세가 아론에게 말하였다. “이스라엘 자손들의 온 공동체에게, ‘주님께서 너희의 불평을 들으셨으니, 그분 앞으로 가까이 오너라.’ 하고 말하십시오.” 10 아론이 이스라엘 자손들의 온 공동체에게 말하고 있을 때, 그들이 광야 쪽을 바라보니, 주님의 영광이 구름 속에 나타났다. 11 주님께서 모세에게 이렇게 이르셨다. 12 “나는 이스라엘 자손들이 불평하는 소리를 들었다. 그들에게 이렇게 일러라. ‘너희가 저녁 어스름에는 고기를 먹고, 아침에는 양식을 배불리 먹을 것이다. 그러면 너희는 내가 주 너희 하느님임을 알게 될 것이다.’” 13 그날 저녁에 메추라기 떼가 날아와 진영을 덮었다. 그리고 아침에는 진영 둘레에 이슬이 내렸다. 14 이슬이 걷힌 뒤에 보니, 잘기가 땅에 내린 서리처럼 잔 알갱이들이 광야 위에 깔려 있는 것이었다. 15 이것을 보고 이스라엘 자손들은 그것이 무엇인지 몰라, “이게 무엇이냐?” 하고 서로 물었다. 모세가 그들에게 말하였다. “이것은 주님께서 너희에게 먹으라고 주신 양식이다.”

1 The children of Israel set out from Elim, and came into the desert of Sin, which is between Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month after their departure from the land of Egypt. 2 Here in the desert the whole assembly of the children of Israel grumbled against Moses and Aaron. 3 The children of Israel said to them, "Would that we had died at the LORD's hand in the land of Egypt, as we sat by our fleshpots and ate our fill of bread! But you had to lead us into this desert to make the whole community die of famine!" 4 Then the LORD said to Moses, "I will now rain down bread from heaven for you. Each day the people are to go out and gather their daily portion; thus will I test them, to see whether they follow my instructions or not. 5 On the sixth day, however, when they prepare what they bring in, let it be twice as much as they gather on the other days." 9 Then Moses said to Aaron, "Tell the whole congregation of the children of Israel: Present yourselves before the LORD, for he has heard your grumbling." 10 When Aaron announced this to the whole assembly of the children of Israel, they turned toward the desert, and lo, the glory of the LORD appeared in the cloud! 11 The LORD spoke to Moses and said, 12 "I have heard the grumbling of the children of Israel. Tell them: In the evening twilight you shall eat flesh, and in the morning you shall have your fill of bread, so that you may know that I, the LORD, am your God." 13 In the evening quail came up and covered the camp. In the morning a dew lay all about the camp, 14 and when the dew evaporated, there on the surface of the desert were fine flakes like hoarfrost on the ground. 15 On seeing it, the children of Israel asked one another, "What is this?" for they did not know what it was. But Moses told them, "This is the bread which the LORD has given you to eat."
묵상) 모든 인간은 필요한 재화를 넘치지도 모자라지도 않게 똑같이 나누어가질 권리를 가지고 있습니다. 쓰고 남은 것을 나누지 않고 쌓아 놓는 것은 소유욕과 불평등을 낳을 것입니다. 모든 사람은 일하고 쉴 권리를 가집니다. 그래서 안식일 전날 아침에 모든 사람은 두 곱의 양을 거두어들입니다. 쉬는 날에도 먹을 권리가 있는 것입니다.

해설) 때가 되어 씨 뿌리는 사람이 씨를 뿌리러 나갑니다. 씨 뿌리는 사람이 씨를 뿌리는데 어떤 것은 길바닥에 떨어져 새들이 쪼아 먹어버리고, 어떤 것은 돌밭에 떨어져 햇볕에 타버리고, 어떤 것은 가시덤불에 떨어져 숨 막혀 버립니다. 그러나 어떤 것은 좋은 땅에 떨어져 삼십 배, 육십 배, 백배의 열매를 맺습니다.
1 그날 예수님께서는 집에서 나와 호숫가에 앉으셨다. 2 그러자 많은 군중이 모여들어, 예수님께서는 배에 올라앉으시고 군중은 물가에 그대로 서 있었다. 3 예수님께서 그들에게 많은 것을 비유로 말씀해 주셨다. “자, 씨 뿌리는 사람이 씨를 뿌리러 나갔다. 4 그가 씨를 뿌리는데 어떤 것들은 길에 떨어져 새들이 와서 먹어 버렸다. 5 어떤 것들은 흙이 많지 않은 돌밭에 떨어졌다. 흙이 깊지 않아 싹은 곧 돋아났지만, 6 해가 솟아오르자 타고 말았다. 뿌리가 없어서 말라 버린 것이다. 7 또 어떤 것들은 가시덤불 속에 떨어졌는데, 가시덤불이 자라면서 숨을 막아 버렸다. 8 그러나 어떤 것들은 좋은 땅에 떨어져 열매를 맺었는데, 어떤 것은 백 배, 어떤 것은 예순 배, 어떤 것은 서른 배가 되었다. 9 귀 있는 사람은 들어라.”

1 On that day, Jesus went out of the house and sat down by the sea. 2 Such large crowds gathered around him that he got into a boat and sat down, and the whole crowd stood along the shore. 3 And he spoke to them at length in parables, saying: "A sower went out to sow. 4 And as he sowed, some seed fell on the path, and birds came and ate it up. 5 Some fell on rocky ground, where it had little soil. It sprang up at once because the soil was not deep, 6 and when the sun rose it was scorched, and it withered for lack of roots. 7 Some seed fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked it. 8 But some seed fell on rich soil, and produced fruit, a hundred or sixty or thirtyfold. 9 Whoever has ears ought to hear."
묵상) 씨 뿌리는 사람은 이 땅 저 땅 가리지 않고 고르게 씨를 뿌립니다. 씨를 뿌리는데 어떤 것은 길바닥에, 어떤 것은 돌밭에, 어떤 것은 가시덤불에 떨어집니다. 그러나 씨 뿌리는 사람은 언제나 좋은 땅에 떨어져 백배의 열매를 맺을 것을 희망하면서 씨를 뿌립니다. 예수님께서도 백배의 열매를 희망하면서 하느님 말씀을 전하십니다.
하느님께서는 세상에 복음의 씨앗을 뿌리십니다. 내 마음의 밭이 어떤 상태인지 자주 돌아보아야 합니다. 스스로 내 마음의 밭에 맞는 작물을 찾아내야 하며 그 밭에서 수확된 결실에 진정 감사할 줄 알아야 합니다. 또한 우리 마음의 밭에 복음의 씨앗을 심으시고 해와 비를 골고루 내리고 자라게 하시는 분이 주님이심을 잊어서도 안 될 것입니다.

씨 뿌리는 사람의 비유
+ 마태오 13, 1-9
1. 내 안에는 어떤 밭이 있습니까? 내 삶의 어떤 부분이 하느님 말씀을 받아들이는데 나를 어렵게 하고 있습니까? 주님께 대한 믿음과 희망을 잃게 하는 가시덤불 같은 것은 무엇입니까?
2. 나는 주변에서 좋은 말씀을 얼마나 많이 들으며 삽니까? 그럼에도 불구하고 예수님의 말씀이 내 삶 안에 뿌리 내리지 못하는 이유는 무엇입니까? 귀기울여 듣기보다 내 목소리만 키우지 않았습니까?

Parable of the Sower
In our first reading from Exodus we see the people again complaining about how good it was back in Egypt where they had all the food they could eat. The Lord hears their complaints and gives them food – meat in the evening and bread in the morning. The text is a reminder that we all have a little ‘Egypt’ in us – we all have a comfort zone which we do not want to relinquish even for the sake of eternal life. However, we must give it up and if we make the effort to do so then the Lord will be with us to help us achieve perfection.
St Matthew presents us with the parable of the sower in our Gospel and it is a story which we are all familiar with. The seed is, of course, the Word of God and the ground represents each of us. The seed is useless if it finds no nourishment just as the Word of God will be dead in us if we make no effort to practice the faith or to live out the Gospel values. We are called to renew ourselves daily and to nourish the faith which was given to us at baptism.
Prayer :
"Lord, faith in your word is the way to wisdom, and to ponder your divine plan is to grow in the truth. Open my eyes to your deeds, and my ears to the sound of your call, that I may understand your will for my life and live according to it". Amen.

성데클란은 아일랜드 워터퍼드(Waterford)의 데시(Desi)에서 태어났고, 아일랜드계 성인인 콜만(Colman)으로부터 세례를 받았다. 그의 전설적인 생애 가운데에는 역사적으로 모순되는 이야기들이 상당히 들어 있는데, 예를 들면, 그는 성 파트리키우스(Patricius)의 선교 전후에 설교하고 선교했다는 주장 같은 것들이다. 그러나 성 데클란의 주위에선 수많은 기적들이 일어났던 것은 사실인 듯하고, 로마(Roma)를 두 번이나 순례하였으며, 웨일스(Wales)를 지날 때에는 성 다윗(David)을 만난 것도 사실이다. 그는 주교로 승품되어 많은 공적을 남겼고, 아드모어의 주교로서 큰 공경을 받고 있다. 그러나 이 성인은 아일랜드에서만 공경을 받고 있다.
