< 저녁 어스름에 새끼 양을 잡아라. 그 피를 보고 너희만은 거르고 지나가겠다. >
해설) 파스카 축제는 옛날부터 전해 내려오던 유목민들의 봄 축제입니다. 그러나 출애굽 사건으로 파스카 예절이 새로운 의미로 변화됩니다. 파스카는 이스라엘을 해방시키기 위하여 억압자를 짓부수는 살아 계신 주님에 대한 영원한 축제가 될 것입니다. 이제 주님께서 몸소 지나가시면서 지배자와 파괴자를 내리치실 것입니다.
그 무렵 10 모세와 아론은 파라오 앞에서 모든 기적을 일으켰다. 그러나 주님께서는 파라오의 마음을 완고하게 하셨다. 그리하여 파라오는 이스라엘 자손들을 자기 땅에서 내보내지 않았다. 12,1 주님께서 이집트 땅에서 모세와 아론에게 말씀하셨다. 2 “너희는 이달을 첫째 달로 삼아, 한 해를 시작하는 달로 하여라. 3 이스라엘의 온 공동체에게 이렇게 일러라. ‘이달 초열흘날 너희는 가정마다 작은 가축을 한 마리씩, 집집마다 작은 가축을 한 마리씩 마련하여라. 4 만일 집에 식구가 적어 짐승 한 마리가 너무 많거든, 사람 수에 따라 자기 집에서 가장 가까운 이웃과 함께 짐승을 마련하여라. 저마다 먹는 양에 따라 짐승을 골라라. 5 이 짐승은 일 년 된 흠 없는 수컷으로 양이나 염소 가운데에서 마련하여라. 6 너희는 그것을 이달 열나흗날까지 두었다가, 이스라엘의 온 공동체가 모여 저녁 어스름에 잡아라. 7 그리고 그 피는 받아서, 짐승을 먹을 집의 두 문설주와 상인방에 발라라. 8 그날 밤에 그 고기를 먹어야 하는데, 불에 구워, 누룩 없는 빵과 쓴나물을 곁들여 먹어야 한다. 9 그것을 날로 먹거나 물에 삶아 먹어서는 안 된다. 머리와 다리와 내장이 있는 채로 불에 구워 먹어야 한다. 10 아침까지 아무것도 남겨서는 안 된다. 아침까지 남은 것은 불에 태워 버려야 한다. 11 그것을 먹을 때는, 허리에 띠를 매고 발에는 신을 신고 손에는 지팡이를 쥐고, 서둘러 먹어야 한다. 이것이 주님을 위한 파스카 축제다. 12 이날 밤 나는 이집트 땅을 지나면서, 사람에서 짐승에 이르기까지 이집트 땅의 맏아들과 맏배를 모조리 치겠다. 그리고 이집트 신들을 모조리 벌하겠다. 나는 주님이다. 13 너희가 있는 집에 발린 피는 너희를 위한 표지가 될 것이다. 내가 이집트를 칠 때, 그 피를 보고 너희만은 거르고 지나가겠다. 그러면 어떤 재앙도 너희를 멸망시키지 않을 것이다. 14 이날이야말로 너희의 기념일이니, 이날 주님을 위하여 축제를 지내라. 이를 영원한 규칙으로 삼아 대대로 축제일로 지내야 한다.’”

10 Although Moses and Aaron performed various wonders in Pharaoh's presence, the LORD made Pharaoh obstinate, and he would not let the children of Israel leave his land. 12:1 The LORD said to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, 2 "This month shall stand at the head of your calendar; you shall reckon it the first month of the year. 3 Tell the whole community of Israel: On the tenth of this month every one of your families must procure for itself a lamb, one apiece for each household. 4 If a family is too small for a whole lamb, it shall join the nearest household in procuring one and shall share in the lamb in proportion to the number of persons who partake of it. 5 The lamb must be a year-old male and without blemish. You may take it from either the sheep or the goats. 6 You shall keep it until the fourteenth day of this month, and then, with the whole assembly of Israel present, it shall be slaughtered during the evening twilight. 7 They shall take some of its blood and apply it to the two doorposts and the lintel of every house in which they partake of the lamb. 8 That same night they shall eat its roasted flesh with unleavened bread and bitter herbs. 9 It shall not be eaten raw or boiled, but roasted whole, with its head and shanks and inner organs. 10 None of it must be kept beyond the next morning; whatever is left over in the morning shall be burned up. 11 "This is how you are to eat it: with your loins girt, sandals on your feet and your staff in hand, you shall eat like those who are in flight. It is the Passover of the LORD. 12 For on this same night I will go through Egypt, striking down every first born of the land, both man and beast, and executing judgment on all the gods of Egypt—I, the LORD! 13 But the blood will mark the houses where you are. Seeing the blood, I will pass over you; thus, when I strike the land of Egypt, no destructive blow will come upon you. 14 "This day shall be a memorial feast for you, which all your generations shall celebrate with pilgrimage to the LORD, as a perpetual institution."
묵상) 주님께서는 당신 정의를 구현하기 위하여 그리고 억압자를 벌하고 억눌린 사람을 구하시기 위하여 당신의 전능하신 오른 팔을 펼치실 것입니다. 정의로우신 주님께서는 억압받는 사람을 구하시기 위해 오십니다. 파스카는 이제 새로운 파스카의 어린 양이신 예수 그리스도를 통하여 당신 백성을 자유롭게 하실 것입니다.

< 사람의 아들은 안식일의 주인이다. >
해설) 안식일에 제자들이 길을 가다가 밀 이삭을 잘라 먹습니다. 그러자 바리사이들이 예수님을 비난합니다. 바리사이의 해석에 따르면 안식일에는 지극히 사소한 일도 해서는 안 되며 일정한 거리밖에 걸을 수 없으고 생활에 필요한 손일만 할 수 있다는 것입니다. 곡식을 따서 비비는 것은 일종의 노동이기 때문에 금지된다는 것입니다.
1 그때에 예수님께서 안식일에 밀밭 사이를 지나가시게 되었다. 그런데 그분의 제자들이 배가 고파서, 밀 이삭을 뜯어 먹기 시작하였다. 2 바리사이들이 그것을 보고 예수님께 말하였다. “보십시오, 선생님의 제자들이 안식일에 해서는 안 되는 일을 하고 있습니다.” 3 그러자 예수님께서 그들에게 말씀하셨다. “다윗과 그 일행이 배가 고팠을 때, 다윗이 어떻게 하였는지 너희는 읽어 본 적이 없느냐? 4 그가 하느님의 집에 들어가, 사제가 아니면 그도 그의 일행도 먹어서는 안 되는 제사 빵을 먹지 않았느냐? 5 또 안식일에 사제들이 성전에서 안식일을 어겨도 죄가 되지 않는다는 것을 율법에서 읽어 본 적이 없느냐? 6 내가 너희에게 말한다. 성전보다 더 큰 이가 여기에 있다. 7 ‘내가 바라는 것은 희생 제물이 아니라 자비다.’ 하신 말씀이 무슨 뜻인지 너희가 알았더라면, 죄 없는 이들을 단죄하지는 않았을 것이다. 8 사실 사람의 아들은 안식일의 주인이다.”

1 Jesus was going through a field of grain on the sabbath. His disciples were hungry and began to pick the heads of grain and eat them. 2 When the Pharisees saw this, they said to him, "See, your disciples are doing what is unlawful to do on the sabbath." 3 He said to the them, "Have you not read what David did when he and his companions were hungry, 4 how he went into the house of God and ate the bread of offering, which neither he nor his companions but only the priests could lawfully eat? 5 Or have you not read in the law that on the sabbath the priests serving in the temple violate the sabbath and are innocent? 6 I say to you, something greater than the temple is here. 7 If you knew what this meant, I desire mercy, not sacrifice, you would not have condemned these innocent men. 8 For the Son of Man is Lord of the sabbath."
묵상) 사울 왕으로부터 도망치던 다윗은 놉의 사제 아히멜렉에게 성막 안에 보관되어 있던 사제들만 먹는 거룩한 빵을 자기 동료들에게 주게 합니다. 아히멜렉 사제는 자신의 권한으로 전례 규정을 무시합니다. 예수님에게 있어서 안식일에 대한 규정도 동일한 것입니다. 예수님이 바로 하느님 자체이시며 안식일의 주인입니다.
안식일은 주님 안에서 안식하는 날입니다. 안식일을 잘 지낸다면 우리의 영과 육이 함께 생기를 얻을 것입니다. 안식일의 주인은 주님이시며 진정 주님 안에 참 생명이 있습니다. 주님의 안식일에 온 식구가 마주 앉아 주님께서 베푸신 사랑에 대해 되새기며 거룩하게 지낸다면 그 가정은 사랑과 생기가 넘칠 것입니다.

1. 주님께서는 희생재물을 원치 않으시고 서로 자비를 나누기를 원하십니다. 나는 타인에게 자비를 베풀고 주님의 말씀을 실천에 옮기기 위하여 어떤 노력을 합니까? 자주 고정관념이나 편견 때문에 주님의 사업을 방해한 적은 없습니까?
2. 안식일을 거룩하게 지내기 위하여 나는 무엇을 합니까? 나 혼자만 거룩해지기 위해 무의식적으로 미사에만 참석하고 돌아와선 전혀 다른 모습으로 나머지 일주일을 살고 있지는 않습니까? 하느님의 안에서 참된 안식을 얻고 새로워지기 위해 어떻게 변화되어야 합니까?

First Reading : Exodus 11:10-12:14

Jesus the Lord of the Sabbath
We now move ahead in our reading from Exodus to the instructions for the first Passover. The Pharaoh has still not agreed that the Hebrews may leave Egypt so the Lord is going to smite the firstborn of both man and beast in the land. The Hebrews are told how to prepare and how to avoid the death which is about to come for only those who prepare properly will be saved. This meal became an annual remembrance of how God delivered his people from slavery in Egypt. From this meal comes our Eucharist which reminds us that, through Jesus, the world has been delivered from slavery to sin.
In the Gospel we see Jesus in conflict with the Pharisees for apparently breaking the Sabbath, though in fact it was the disciples who committed the crime and not Jesus. Christ was not against observing the Sabbath but he was against the Pharisaic over-development of Sabbath legislation. He reminds them of what happened in the past and tells them that man is greater than the Sabbath and not the other way around. He does not suggest that the Sabbath should not be observed but to keep a perspective on things and not kill off the day completely.
Prayer :
"Lord, make us to walk in your way: ‘Where there is love and wisdom, there is neither fear nor ignorance; where there is patience and humility, there is neither anger nor annoyance; where there is poverty and joy, there is neither greed nor avarice; where there is peace and contemplation, there is neither care nor restlessness; where there is the fear of God to guard the dwelling, there no enemy can enter; where there is mercy and prudence, there is neither excess nor harshness'; this we know through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord." Amen.

스틸라는 독일 뉘른베르크(Nuremberg) 교외 아벤베르그 태생으로 그 지방의 백작 딸이었다. 그녀는 자비로 집 가까운 언덕에 성당을 세우고 사도 성 베드로(Petrus)에게 봉헌하였다. 그녀는 매일같이 그 성당에서 기도하고 묵상했으며, 밤베르크(Bamberg)의 주교인 성 오토(Otto, 7월 2일) 앞에서 동정서원을 발하였다. 그녀는 부친의 집에서 수녀생활을 시작했고, 곧 수녀원을 세우려고 동분서주 하던 차에 운명하고 말았다. 후에 그녀의 무덤은 순례의 중심지가 되었다. 그녀에 대한 공경은 1927년에 승인되었다.
