The Most Holy Trinity
성령께서 오시면 너희를 모든 진리 안으로 이끌어 주실 것이다.
오늘은 삼위일체 대축일입니다. 하느님께서는 그리스도를 믿는 사람이면 누구나 당신과의 올바른 관계에 놓아 주십니다. 진리의 성령께서 오시면 예수 그리스도를 증언할 것입니다. 진리의 성령께서 오시면 하느님의 신비를 온전히 깨닫게 하여 주실 것입니다. 성부와 성자와 성령의 삼위는 모두 일체이신 같은 하느님입니다.
제1독서는 잠언의 말씀입니다. 주님께서 한 처음에 세상을 창조하시기 전에 모든 것에 앞서 지혜를 지으십니다. 땅이 생기기 전에 그리고 바다가 생기기 전에 지혜는 이미 태어납니다. 주님은 지혜로 땅의 터를 놓으시고, 슬기로 하늘을 튼튼히 떠받치시며, 지식으로 깊은 물줄기를 터뜨리십니다. 지혜를 얻는 것이 은보다 값있고 황금보다 유익합니다. 지혜를 얻으면 생명을 얻고 주님의 은총을 받습니다. 지혜는 주님께서 주시는 것이며 그의 입에서 떨어지는 말로 지식과 슬기를 깨치게 됩니다. 주님을 두려워하여 섬기는 것이 지혜의 시작입니다. 스스로 지혜로운 체하지 말고 주님을 두려워하고 무슨 일을 하든지 먼저 주님의 영광을 생각해야 합니다.
제2독서는 로마서의 말씀입니다. 모든 사람이 죄를 지었기 때문에 하느님이 주셨던 본래의 영광스러운 모습을 잃어버렸습니다. 예수님께서는 우리의 죄 때문에 죽으셨다가 우리를 하느님과의 올바른 관계에 놓아 주시기 위해서 다시 살아나신 분입니다. 이렇게 하느님께서는 그리스도 예수님을 통해서 모든 사람을 죄에서 풀어주시고 하느님과 올바른 관계를 가질 수 있는 은총을 베풀어 주십니다. 하느님께서는 그리스도를 믿는 사람이면 누구나 아무런 차별 없이 당신과의 올바른 관계에 놓아 주십니다. 하느님과 화해하게 해 주신 예수 그리스도의 덕분으로 하느님을 섬기는 기쁨을 누리게 됩니다. 그리스도를 믿음으로써 하느님의 영광에 참여할 희망을 안고 기뻐하고 있습니다.
오늘 복음은 요한복음입니다. 예수 그리스도께서 아버지 하느님께 청하면 다른 협조자를 보내 주셔서 우리와 영원히 계시도록 하실 것입니다. 그분은 곧 진리의 성령입니다. 하느님께서 예수 그리스도의 이름으로 보내주실 성령 곧 그 협조자는 모든 것을 가르쳐 주실 뿐만 아니라 예수님께서 가르쳐주신 모든 말씀을 되새기게 해 주실 것입니다. 진리의 성령께서 오시면 그분이 예수 그리스도를 증언할 것입니다. 그분께서 오시면 죄와 정의와 심판에 관한 세상의 그릇된 생각을 바로 잡아 주실 것입니다. 성령께서는 예수 그리스도를 믿지 않는 것이 바로 죄라고 지적할 것입니다. 진리의 성령께서 오시면 하느님 나라의 진리를 온전히 깨닫게 하여 주실 것입니다.

해설) 주님께서 만물을 지으시던 한 처음에 모든 것에 앞서 지혜를 지으십니다. 주님을 두려워하여 섬기는 것이 지혜의 근본이요 거룩하신 분을 깊이 아는 것이 슬기입니다. 지혜로운 사람은 책망을 들을수록 슬기로워지고 의로운 사람은 배울수록 학식이 더해집니다. 지혜는 옳은 길을 가게하고 바른 길의 한 가운데를 걷게 합니다.
하느님의 지혜가 이렇게 말하였다. 22 “주님께서는 그 옛날 모든 일을 하시기 전에 당신의 첫 작품으로 나를 지으셨다. 23 나는 한처음 세상이 시작되기 전에 영원에서부터 모습이 갖추어졌다. 24 심연이 생기기 전에, 물 많은 샘들이 생기기 전에 나는 태어났다. 25 산들이 자리 잡기 전에, 언덕들이 생기기 전에 나는 태어났다. 26 그분께서 땅과 들을, 누리의 첫 흙을 만드시기 전이다. 27 그분께서 하늘을 세우실 때, 심연 위에 테두리를 정하실 때 나 거기 있었다. 28 그분께서 위의 구름을 굳히시고 심연의 샘들을 솟구치게 하실 때, 29 물이 그분의 명령을 어기지 않도록 바다에 경계를 두실 때, 그분께서 땅의 기초를 놓으실 때 30 나는 그분 곁에서 사랑받는 아이였다. 나는 날마다 그분께 즐거움이었고 언제나 그분 앞에서 뛰놀았다. 31 나는 그분께서 지으신 땅 위에서 뛰놀며 사람들을 내 기쁨으로 삼았다.”

해설) 예수 그리스도께서는 우리의 죄 때문에 죽으셨다가 우리를 하느님과의 올바른 관계에 놓아주시기 위해서 다시 살아나신 분입니다. 그리스도께서는 우리 죄 많은 인간을 구원하시려고 죽으신 것입니다. 이렇게 하느님께서 우리들에게 당신의 사랑을 확실히 보여주십니다. 이런 믿음으로 우리는 하느님과 올바른 관계를 가지게 됩니다.
형제 여러분, 1 믿음으로 의롭게 된 우리는 우리 주 예수 그리스도를 통하여 하느님과 더불어 평화를 누립니다. 2 믿음 덕분에, 우리는 그리스도를 통하여 우리가 서 있는 이 은총 속으로 들어올 수 있게 되었습니다. 그리고 하느님의 영광에 참여하리라는 희망을 자랑으로 여깁니다. 3 그뿐만 아니라 우리는 환난도 자랑으로 여깁니다. 우리가 알고 있듯이, 환난은 인내를 자아내고 4 인내는 수양을, 수양은 희망을 자아냅니다. 5 그리고 희망은 우리를 부끄럽게 하지 않습니다. 우리가 받은 성령을 통하여 하느님의 사랑이 우리 마음에 부어졌기 때문입니다.

해설) 성자를 영광스럽게 하는 것은 성부입니다. 성령은 성자의 신비를 계시하고 성자의 구원 행위에 참여함으로써 성자의 영광에 기여하게 됩니다. 성령은 성자에게서 전해 받은 것만을 전하며 성자를 영광스럽게 합니다. 성령은 성자에게서 받아서 신비와 진리를 우리에게 알려 줍니다. 성령은 우리를 진리에로 인도하십니다.
그때에 예수님께서 제자들에게 말씀하셨다. 12 “내가 너희에게 할 말이 아직도 많지만 너희가 지금은 그것을 감당하지 못한다. 13 그러나 그분 곧 진리의 영께서 오시면 너희를 모든 진리 안으로 이끌어 주실 것이다. 그분께서는 스스로 이야기하지 않으시고 들으시는 것만 이야기하시며, 또 앞으로 올 일들을 너희에게 알려 주실 것이다. 14 그분께서 나를 영광스럽게 하실 것이다. 나에게서 받아 너희에게 알려 주실 것이기 때문이다. 15 아버지께서 가지고 계신 것은 모두 나의 것이다. 그렇기 때문에 성령께서 나에게서 받아 너희에게 알려 주실 것이라고 내가 말하였다.”

사람은 하느님을 믿음으로써 의롭게 되며 예수 그리스도를 통하여 비로소 하느님과 올바른 관계를 맺게 됩니다. 성령은 이 모든 것을 깨닫게 하십니다. 성부와 성자와 성령의 이름으로 세례를 받은 우리는 성삼위가 일체임을 믿습니다. 성령의 도우심으로 우리도 예수님을 통하여 하느님과 하나가 될 것입니다.

성령께서 하시는 일.
+ 요한 16,12-15
1. 예수님은 왜 우리가 감당하지 못한다고 하십니까? 이 말씀의 의미는 무엇입니까? 삶 안에서 여러 방법으로 말씀하시는 주님의 말씀을 이해하지 못해 놓치며 사는 이유가 주님께서 보내주시는 성령을 거부하기 때문은 아닙니까?
2. 예수님의 말씀을 잘 이해하기 위해 무엇이 필요합니까? 성령께서 나를 진리 안으로 이끌어 주시도록 청해보십시오. 일상의 삶에서 나는 언제 성령의 인도하심을 느낍니까?

Spirit of truth
Today we keep the solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity when we acknowledge in a very special way that, while there is only one God, there are three persons in that one God: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. This is a cornerstone of the faith but at the same time a teaching which is difficult to grasp or comprehend. While many people have no problem believing in a God, there is some difficulty in accepting that God can be three persons while remaining One God. Many have tried to explain it such as St Patrick who used the shamrock, but understanding is not necessary for faith and some things will always be mysteries. It is a reminder that there are things in our faith which are mysteries, things which we don’t have the capacity to understand, to reason or to solve by science, and yet we believe them to be true because proof is not necessary for true faith. Jesus did not explicitly use the word ‘trinity’ and yet his teaching that he and the Father are One, his instruction to baptise in the name (singular) of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, point to a Trinity in One God.
In the first reading from the Old Testament Book of Proverbs, Wisdom is portrayed as having been present when God created all things. Today, we understand Jesus to be the personification of Wisdom and so we believe that he was at the Father’s side through all of creation.
In the second reading from St Paul to the Romans, Paul too speaks of the Trinity because he says that through Jesus Christ the faithful draw closer to the Father with the perseverance and hope given by the Spirit. The Father wants all people to be with him and his Son has shown the way while the Spirit fortifies the faithful for the journey. All that remains is for the faithful to accept that guidance and follow the path marked out by Jesus Christ.
In the gospel reading from St John, Jesus is telling his disciples that he has many things to say to them, though not enough time, but that the Spirit will guide them after he has returned to the Father. Everything has been done at the Father’s command and the Son now entrusts that to his disciples who will be guided and strengthened by the Holy Spirit. The word ‘trinity’ may not have been explicitly used by Jesus, but in this short passage all three persons are mentioned by him and all are clearly equal.
Prayer :
"Lord Jesus, fill me with your Holy Spirit and guide me into your way of truth. Free me from erroneous and false ways and lead me in the knowledge of your ways and your will for my life. May there be nothing in my life that is not under your lordship." Amen.

성퀴리쿠스(Quiricus)의 어머니 성녀 율리타가 디오클레티아누스 황제의 박해 때 타르수스에서 사형선고를 받았을 때 퀴리쿠스는 불과 3살 된 어린아이였다. 총독 알렉산데르(Alexander)가 그를 어머니에게서 떼어놓고 달랬지만 그는 발버둥 치며 총독의 얼굴을 물어뜯었다. 화가 치민 총독은 이 어린이마저 죽이려 하였다. 얼마 후 이 소식을 듣게 된 율리타는 기쁨에 넘쳐 순교할 수 있었다고 한다. 그녀는 율리에타(Julietta)로도 불린다.
