Tuesday of the Second Week of Easter

< 한마음 한뜻 >
해설) 구약의 율법이 하지 못했던 일들이 사랑의 성령에 의해 이루어집니다. 초대교회 공동체 사람들 가운데 가난한 사람은 하나도 없습니다. 재산을 팔아서 가난한 사람들과 나누는 일은 율법에 의해서가 아니라 참사랑에 의해서 이루어집니다. 이러한 나눔은 신앙의 최고 가치와 주님께 대한 희망에 의해서 이루어진 것입니다.
32 신자들의 공동체는 한마음 한뜻이 되어, 아무도 자기 소유를 자기 것이라 하지 않고 모든 것을 공동으로 소유하였다. 33 사도들은 큰 능력으로 주 예수님의 부활을 증언하였고, 모두 큰 은총을 누렸다. 34 그들 가운데에는 궁핍한 사람이 하나도 없었다. 땅이나 집을 소유한 사람은 그것을 팔아서 받은 돈을 가져다가 35 사도들의 발 앞에 놓고, 저마다 필요한 만큼 나누어 받곤 하였다. 36 키프로스 태생의 레위인으로, 사도들에게서 ‘위로의 아들’이라는 뜻의 바르나바라는 별명을 얻은 요셉도, 37 자기가 소유한 밭을 팔아 그 돈을 가져다가 사도들의 발 앞에 놓았다.

32 The community of believers was of one heart and mind, and no one claimed that any of his possessions was his own, but they had everything in common. 33 With great power the Apostles bore witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great favor was accorded them all. 34 There was no needy person among them, for those who owned property or houses would sell them, bring the proceeds of the sale, 35 and put them at the feet of the Apostles, and they were distributed to each according to need. 36 Thus Joseph, also named by the Apostles Barnabas (which is translated Ason of encouragement"), a Levite, a Cypriot by birth, 37 sold a piece of property that he owned, then brought the money and put it at the feet of the Apostles.
묵상) 초대 교회 신자들은 모두 한마음 한뜻이 되어 아무도 자기 소유를 자기 것이라고 고집하지 않고 모두 공동체를 위해서 내어놓습니다. 참 사랑은 나눔이며 배려입니다. 참사랑은 주님에 대한 흠숭이며 이웃에 대한 배려입니다. 그래서 참사랑의 공동체인 초대 교회 신자들은 내어주는 사랑을 실천합니다.

< 하늘에서 내려온 이, 곧 사람의 아들 말고는 하늘로 올라간 이가 없다. >
해설) 높이 들린 사람의 아들은 십자가 위에 높이 매달리신 예수님입니다. 사람의 아들이 높이 들릴 때 비로소 예수님의 참된 본질이 계시됩니다. 높이 들린 사람의 아들은 신앙을 가지고 당신을 바라보는 사람에게 구원의 원천이 됩니다. 그래서 높이 들린 사람의 아들을 믿는 사람은 누구나 영원한 생명을 누립니다.
그때에 예수님께서 니코데모에게 말씀하셨다. 7 “‘너희는 위로부터 태어나야 한다.’8 바람은 불고 싶은 데로 분다. 너는 그 소리를 들어도 어디에서 와 어디로 가는지 모른다. 영에서 태어난 이도 다 이와 같다.” 9 니코데모가 예수님께 “그런 일이 어떻게 이루어질 수 있습니까?” 하자, 10 예수님께서 그에게 대답하셨다. “너는 이스라엘의 스승이면서 그런 것도 모르느냐? 11 내가 진실로 진실로 너에게 말한다. 우리는 우리가 아는 것을 말하고 본 것을 증언한다. 그러나 너희는 우리의 증언을 받아들이지 않는다. 12 내가 세상일을 말하여도 너희가 믿지 않는데, 하물며 하늘 일을 말하면 어찌 믿겠느냐? 13 하늘에서 내려온 이, 곧 사람의 아들 말고는 하늘로 올라간 이가 없다. 14 모세가 광야에서 뱀을 들어 올린 것처럼, 사람의 아들도 들어 올려져야 한다. 15 믿는 사람은 누구나 사람의 아들 안에서 영원한 생명을 얻게 하려는 것이다.”

Jesus said to Nicodemus: 7 "'You must be born from above.' 8 The wind blows where it wills, and you can hear the sound it makes, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes; so it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit." 9 Nicodemus answered and said to him, 'How can this happen?" 10 Jesus answered and said to him, "You are the teacher of Israel and you do not understand this? 11 Amen, amen, I say to you, we speak of what we know and we testify to what we have seen, but you people do not accept our testimony. 12 If I tell you about earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you about heavenly things? 13 No one has gone up to heaven except the one who has come down from heaven, the Son of Man. 14 And just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the desert, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, 15 so that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life.”
묵상) 예수님의 가르침은 하느님 나라와 하느님의 구원 계획에 집중되어 있고, 하느님 나라의 신비는 예수님의 말씀과 업적에 긴밀하게 연결되어 있습니다. 하느님 나라는 예수님의 말씀과 행적 안에 이미 현존해 있습니다. 니코데모의 편견과 오해는 예수님의 참 가르침을 아직 믿음으로 받아들이지 않고 있기 때문입니다.
하느님 나라의 신비는 인간의 지식으로 알 수 없습니다. 하느님과 하느님 나라와 하느님의 뜻은 은총으로만 알아차릴 수 있습니다. 예수님께서 세상에서 드러내 보이신 말씀과 행적으로 예수님 당신이 곧 하느님이심이 드러납니다. 예수 그리스도께서는 십자가에서 죽으시고 부활하심으로써 다시 하느님의 자리로 되돌아가십니다.

니코데모와 이야기하시다.

1. 니코데모가 알고 싶어 했던 것은 무엇입니까? 이스라엘의 스승이면서도 그가 알지 못한 것은 무엇입니까? ‘너희는 위로부터 태어나야 한다.’는 말씀의 의미는 무엇입니까?
2. 나도 가끔 눈에 보이는 것만 믿으려하고 믿음에 대해 의심하지는 않았습니까? 하느님의 외아들 예수님을 믿는다는 것은 어떤 의미입니까? 이 부활시기에 예수님의 십자가 사건을 묵상하며 하느님의 사랑과 은총을 어떻게 느낄 수 있습니까?

First Reading : Acts 4:32-37 Holy Gospel : John 3:7-15
You must be born anew
In the first reading for today we get a glimpse of the early Christian Church at work and we are told that the disciples continued to proclaim Christ while those who believed looked after each other and saw to it that none of the community was ever in need. This strong community life enables them to live fearlessly and to give strong witness to the Risen Lord.
In the Gospel, Jesus speaks to Nicodemus of a "new birth in the Spirit." The Hebrew word for "spirit" means both "wind" and "breath". Jesus says to Nicodemus: "You can hear, feel, and see the effects of the wind, but you do not know where it comes from. In like manner, you can see the effects of the Holy Spirit in the lives of those the Spirit touches." Jesus explains to Nicodemus the necessity of the crucifixion and resurrection by analogy with Moses and the bronze serpent in the desert. When the people of Israel were afflicted with serpents in the wilderness because of their sin, God instructed Moses: "Make a fiery serpent, and set it on a pole; and every one who is bitten, when he sees it, shall live" (Numbers 21:8). The bronze serpent points to the cross of Christ which defeats sin and death and obtains everlasting life for those who believe. The result of Jesus "being lifted up on the cross" and his rising and exaltation to the Father's right hand in heaven, is our "new birth in the Spirit" and adoption as sons and daughters of God. God not only redeems us, but he fills us with his own divine life and power that we might share in his glory. Jesus gives us the Holy Spirit that we may have power to be his witnesses and to spread and defend the gospel by word and action, and to never be ashamed of Christ's Cross. The Holy Spirit gives us his seven-fold gifts of wisdom and understanding, right judgment and courage, knowledge and reverence for God and his ways, and a holy fear in God's presence (see Isaiah 11) that we may live God's way of life and serve in the power of his strength. Do you thirst for new life in the Spirit?
Prayer : "Lord Jesus Christ, your death brought life for us. Fill me with your Holy Spirit that I may walk in freedom and joy as a child of God and as an heir with Christ of an eternal inheritance." - Amen

이탈리아 토리노(Torino)의 브라(Bra)에서 출생한 성 요셉 베네딕투스 코톨렌고(Josephus Benedictus Cottolengo, 또는 요셉 베네딕토 코톨렌고)는 사제로 서품된 후 본당 사목을 담당하였다. 그런데 토리노에는 가난한 사람을 위한 의료시설이 없었다. 그는 본당내의 어느 부인이 비참하게 죽어가는 모습을 목격하고는 큰 충격을 받아 가난한 병자들을 위한 '하느님 섭리의 작은 집'을 개원하게 되었다. 이것이 점점 확대되자 그는 자원 봉사자들을 모집하여 단체를 구성하였는데, 이것이 성 빈첸시오 수도회와 빈첸시오 수녀회의 모태가 되었다.
1831년 콜레라가 창궐하게 되었을 때 병원도 문을 닫아야만 하였다. 그러나 그는 즉시 도시 외곽인 발도코(Valdocco)로 자리를 옮겨 환자들을 돌보는 일을 계속하였다. 병원은 연일 만원이었고, 그래서 조금씩 확장되었다. 이제 그는 노인, 농아, 맹인, 불구자, 정신 이상자 및 거리의 여성에게도 보호의 손길을 뻗쳤다. 그래서 그의 피콜라 카사(Piccola Casa)는 큰 병원 조직이 되었다. 그는 이런 불행한 사람들을 사목하기 위하여 연민회, 착한 목자회, 로사리오의 은수자회 그리고 삼위일체의 사제회를 설립하였다. 장티푸스로 인하여 극도로 쇠약해진 그는 오랫동안 치료를 받았지만 결국 이탈리아의 키에리(Chieri)에서 운명하고 말았다. 그는 1917년 교황 베네딕투스 15세에 의해 시복되었고, 1934년 교황 비오 11세(Pius XI)에 의해 성인품에 올랐다.
