The Seventh Day in the Octave of Christmas
+ 요한 1서 2,18-21
<여러분은 거룩하신 분에게서 기름부음을 받았습니다. 그래서 여러분은 모두 알고 있습니다.>
해설) 말씀이 사람이 되시어 우리와 함께 계십니다. 사람이 되신 주 예수 그리스도를 받아들이는 사람에게 하느님께서는 당신의 자녀가 되는 특권을 주십니다. 참 그리스도인은 이 거룩한 분에게서 주님의 성령을 받습니다. 그래서 참 그리스도인은 모두 하느님 아버지에 대한 참된 지혜와 지식을 가지고 있습니다.
18 자녀 여러분, 지금이 마지막 때입니다. ‘그리스도의 적’이 온다고 여러분이 들은 그대로, 지금 많은 ‘그리스도의 적들’이 나타났습니다. 그래서 우리는 지금이 마지막 때임을 압니다. 19 그들은 우리에게서 떨어져 나갔지만, 우리에게 속한 자들은 아니었습니다. 그들이 우리에게 속하였다면, 우리와 함께 남아 있었을 것입니다. 그러나 결국에는 그들이 아무도 우리에게 속하지 않는다는 사실이 드러났습니다. 20 여러분은 거룩하신 분에게서 기름부음을 받았습니다. 그래서 여러분은 모두 알고 있습니다. 21 내가 여러분에게 이 글을 쓰는 까닭은, 여러분이 진리를 모르기 때문이 아니라 진리를 알기 때문입니다. 또 진리에서는 어떠한 거짓말도 나오지 않기 때문입니다.

18 Children, it is the last hour; and just as you heard that the antichrist was coming, so now many antichrists have appeared. Thus we know this is the last hour. 19 They went out from us, but they were not really of our number; if they had been, they would have remained with us. Their desertion shows that none of them was of our number. 20 But you have the anointing that comes from the holy one, and you all have knowledge. 21 I write to you not because you do not know the truth but because you do, and because every lie is alien to the truth.
묵상) 하느님의 구원은 예수 그리스도를 통하여 사람들에게 주는 참 생명의 선물입니다. 그러나 그리스도의 적수들은 예수님이 구세주이심을 거부하고, 그렇게 함으로써 참 생명을 거부합니다. 그러나 그리스도인은 예수 그리스도를 구세주로 믿고 받아들이고 하느님 아버지로부터 오는 영원한 생명을 받아들이는 사람입니다.

<말씀이 사람이 되셨다.>
해설) 하느님의 말씀이 사람이 되셔서 우리와 함께 계십니다. 그래서 우리는 그분 안에서 하느님의 영광을 봅니다. 말씀이 사람이 되신 그분에게는 은총과 진리가 충만합니다. 우리는 그분에게서 넘치는 은총을 받고 또 받습니다. 하느님과 같으신 그분이 하느님을 알려주셔서 우리는 주님의 진리를 알게 됩니다.
1 한처음에 말씀이 계셨다. 말씀은 하느님과 함께 계셨는데, 말씀은 하느님이셨다. 2 그분께서는 한처음에 하느님과 함께 계셨다. 3 모든 것이 그분을 통하여 생겨났고, 그분 없이 생겨난 것은 하나도 없다. 4 그분 안에 생명이 있었으니, 그 생명은 사람들의 빛이었다. 5 그 빛이 어둠 속에서 비치고 있지만, 어둠은 그를 깨닫지 못하였다. 6 하느님께서 보내신 사람이 있었는데, 그의 이름은 요한이었다. 7 그는 증언하러 왔다. 빛을 증언하여, 자기를 통해 모든 사람이 믿게 하려는 것이었다. 8 그 사람은 빛이 아니었다. 빛을 증언하러 왔을 따름이다. 9 모든 사람을 비추는 참빛이 세상에 왔다. 10 그분께서 세상에 계셨고, 세상이 그분을 통하여 생겨났지만, 세상은 그분을 알아보지 못하였다. 11 그분께서 당신 땅에 오셨지만, 그분의 백성은 그분을 맞아들이지 않았다. 12 그분께서는 당신을 받아들이는 이들, 당신의 이름을 믿는 모든 이에게, 하느님의 자녀가 되는 권한을 주셨다. 13 이들은 혈통이나 육욕이나 남자의 욕망에서 난 것이 아니라, 하느님에게서 난 사람들이다. 14 말씀이 사람이 되시어 우리 가운데 사셨다. 우리는 그분의 영광을 보았다. 은총과 진리가 충만하신 아버지의 외아드님으로서 지니신 영광을 보았다. 15 요한은 그분을 증언하여 외쳤다. “그분은 내가 이렇게 말한 분이시다. ‘내 뒤에 오시는 분은 내가 나기 전부터 계셨기에, 나보다 앞서신 분이시다.’” 16 그분의 충만함에서 우리 모두 은총에 은총을 받았다. 17 율법은 모세를 통하여 주어졌지만, 은총과 진리는 예수 그리스도를 통하여 왔다. 18 아무도 하느님을 본 적이 없다. 아버지와 가장 가까우신 외아드님, 하느님이신 그분께서 알려 주셨다.

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things came to be through him, and without him nothing came to be. What came to be 4 through him was life, and this life was the light of the human race; 5 the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. 6 A man named John was sent from God. 7 He came for testimony, to testify to the light, so that all might believe through him. 8 He was not the light, but came to testify to the light. 9 The true light, which enlightens everyone, was coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and the world came to be through him, but the world did not know him. 11 He came to what was his own, but his own people did not accept him. 12 But to those who did accept him he gave power to become children of God, to those who believe in his name, 13 who were born not by natural generation nor by human choice nor by a man’s decision but of God. 14 And the Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us, and we saw his glory, the glory as of the Father’s only Son, full of grace and truth. 15 John testified to him and cried out, saying, “This was he of whom I said,l ‘The one who is coming after me ranks ahead of me because he existed before me.’” 16 From his fullness we have all received, grace in place of grace, 17 because while the law was given through Moses, grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. 18 No one has ever seen God. The only Son, God,* who is at the Father’s side, has revealed him.
묵상) 하느님의 말씀이신 그리스도는 모든 사람의 마음과 양심을 비추시는 거룩한 빛입니다. 하느님께서는 영원한 생명과 참 행복을 주시려고 사람이 되어 인간 세상으로 들어오십니다. 말씀이 사람이 되신 주 예수 그리스도를 받아들이고 그분을 믿는 사람에게는 하느님의 자녀가 되는 특권을 주십니다.
말씀이 사람이 되시어 세상에 오십니다. 주 예수님께서는 말씀과 행적으로 하느님 나라와 하느님의 뜻을 전하십니다. 그리고 다시 말씀을 남기시고 하느님께로 가십니다. 지금도 우리는 말씀 안에서 예수 그리스도를 만납니다. 올 한해도 말씀 안에서 예수님을 만나며 하느님을 체험하고 영적으로 성장하였음에 진심으로 감사드립니다.

말씀이 사람이 되시다.
+ 요한 1,1-18
1. 예언자들을 통해 오시기로 약속되었던 하느님의 말씀이 마침내 인간의 육을 취하시어 우리에게 오셨습니다. 나의 삶 안에 하느님이 오심으로 해서 내게 어떤 일들이 일어나고 있습니까? 하느님께서 우리와 함께하신다는 것은 어떤 의미이며 나는 어떤 마음으로 살고 있습니까? 나의 삶 안에 함께 살아계신 하느님의 모습을 찾아보십시오.
2. 어두움을 밝히는 빛이신 하느님은 온 세상의 어두움을 몰아내고 당신의 빛으로 가득 채워 주십니다. 내가 하느님을 받아들임으로써 내 안의 어떤 어두움들이 사라졌습니까? 그리고 이 빛은 나를 어떻게 변화시키고 있습니까?

The Eternal Word becomes fleshy
In the reading from the first letter of St John we are again reminded that we are all children of God and that we have already received the truth and the knowledge of God. John was writing to those who live in modern day Turkey and rebuking them for having abandoned the Christian way which he sees as a sign of the coming of the antichrist. For John, those who are true believers would never abandon the faith and the Christian calling so easily.
Our gospel text today is the prologue to St John’s gospel in which the evangelist tells us that Christ is the Word of God and that he has existed since the beginning. He also tells us that those who accept Christ as their Saviour and Lord will become children of God. As believers and children of God we have a duty and responsibility to live Christian lives and to proclaim Christ as our Saviour and Lord and especially having just celebrated his birth.
Prayer :
"Almighty God and Father of light, your eternal Word leaped down from heaven in the silent watches of the night. Open our hearts to receive his life and increase our vision with the rising of dawn, that our lives may be filled with his glory and his peace.” Amen.
성녀 골룸바 (Saint Columba)

에스파냐의 귀족 가문에서 태어난 성녀 콜룸바(또는 골룸바)는 16세 때에 아우렐리아누스 황제의 박해를 피해 다른 그리스도인들과 함께 오늘날의 프랑스 지방으로 피신하였다. 그러나 곧 체포되어 감옥에 갇혔다. 전설에 의하면 그녀가 감옥에 있을 때 한 간수가 그녀를 범하려고 했으나 한 마리의 곰이 나타나 간수를 공격하여 그녀를 구해주었다고 한다. 하지만 성녀 콜룸바와 동료들은 얼마 후 상스 또는 모(Meaux) 근교에서 순교하였다.
또 다른 전승에 의하면 그녀의 순교와 거의 동시에 아우베르투스(Aubertus)라는 한 맹인이 그녀에게 전구를 청하여 눈을 뜨게 되었다. 그래서 그는 즉시 성녀의 처형장으로 가서 시신을 수습해 장례를 치렀다. 그녀의 무덤에는 곧이어 경당이 건립되었고, 프랑스 전역으로 그녀에 대한 공경이 퍼져나갔다. 오늘날에도 상스에 남아있는 여러 역사적인 유적들이 그녀에 대한 예전의 공경을 잘 보여주고 있다. 교회미술에서 성녀 콜룸바는 왕관을 쓴 처녀로서 개나 곰과 함께 그려지거나 책과 공작 깃털을 들고 있거나 참수 당하는 모습 등으로 묘사된다.
