기쁜 소식 (Good News)
오늘은 주님 성탄 대축일입니다. 오늘 독서와 복음의 주제는 기쁜 소식입니다. 어둠 속에서 헤매던 백성이 구원의 빛을 볼 것입니다. 주님께서 인류를 구원하러 오셨습니다. 하느님께서 우리와 함께 계시기 위해서 임마누엘의 하느님으로 오신 것입니다. 우리의 하느님은 우리의 참 기쁨이며 희망이십니다.
제1독서는 이사야 예언서의 말씀입니다. 어둠 속에서 살던 사람들이 큰 빛을 볼 것입니다. 캄캄한 땅에 사는 백성에게 주님의 빛이 비쳐올 것입니다. 주님께서 당신 백성을 구원하러 오셨습니다. 이제 메시아께서 오셔서 당신 백성이 짊어진 멍에와 어깨에 멘 장대를 부러뜨리시고 혹사하는 자들의 채찍을 꺾으실 것입니다. 당신 백성을 짓밟던 군화는 불에 타 사라질 것입니다. 그분의 어깨에는 하느님의 주권이 메어질 것입니다. 그분은 탁월한 경륜가, 용사이신 하느님, 영원한 아버지, 평화의 왕이라 불릴 것입니다. 그분은 다윗의 왕좌에 앉아 하느님의 주권을 행사하고 온 세상에 하느님의 법과 정의를 굳게 세우실 것이며 끝없는 정의와 평화를 영원으로부터 영원까지 이루실 것입니다.
제2독서는 티토서의 말씀입니다. 주님께서 당신의 사랑으로 우리를 구원하셨습니다. 우리가 옳은 일을 했다고 해서 우리를 구원해 주시는 것이 아닙니다. 주님께서 자비로우신 분이시기 때문에 당신 성령으로 우리를 깨끗이 씻어서 다시 나게 하시고 새롭게 해 주심으로써 우리를 구원하신 것입니다. 하느님 구원의 은총이 모든 사람에게 나타났습니다. 그 은총은 불경건한 생활과 세속적인 욕심을 버리게 하고 이 세상에서 바르고 거룩한 삶을 살게 합니다. 참된 은총은 예수 그리스도께서 영광스럽게 나타나실 그 복된 희망을 기다리게 합니다. 주님의 은총은 구원의 기쁜 소식을 마음속에 늘 간직하고 예수 그리스도를 따르는 삶을 살게 합니다.
오늘의 복음은 루카복음입니다. 천지가 창조되기 전부터 말씀이 계셨습니다. 말씀은 하느님과 함께 계셨고 하느님과 같은 분이십니다. 때가 되어 말씀이 사람이 되셨습니다. 하느님의 말씀이 사람이 되셔서 우리와 함께 계십니다. 우리와 함께 계시는 하느님은 임마누엘의 하느님이십니다. 임마누엘의 하느님은 당신 백성과 함께 계시려고 오신 것입니다. 그래서 그분은 하루 밤만 묵고 가는 여관방에서 태어나지 않으셨습니다. 그분은 당신 백성을 구원하러 오셨기 때문에 가장 낮은 곳에서 태어나셨습니다. 주 하느님을 섬기는 섬김으로 백성들을 섬기기 위해 당신 자신을 낮추신 것입니다. 주님께서 우리를 구원하시기 위하여 인간으로 오셨다는 것이 진정 기쁜 소식입니다.

해설) 인류의 구원을 위해서 태어나실 메시아의 어깨에는 하느님의 주권이 메어지겠고 그 이름은 탁월한 경륜가, 용사이신 하느님, 영원한 아버지, 평화의 왕이라 불릴 것입니다. 그분은 다윗의 왕좌에 앉아 주권을 행사하여 그 국권을 강대하게 하고 끝없는 평화를 이루며 그 나라를 주님의 정의와 평화 위에 굳게 세우실 것입니다.
1 어둠 속을 걷던 백성이 큰 빛을 봅니다. 암흑의 땅에 사는 이들에게 빛이 비칩니다. 2 당신께서는 즐거움을 많게 하시고, 기쁨을 크게 하십니다. 사람들이 당신 앞에서 기뻐합니다, 수확할 때 기뻐하듯, 전리품을 나눌 때 즐거워하듯. 3 정녕 당신께서는 그들이 짊어진 멍에와, 어깨에 멘 장대와, 부역 감독관의 몽둥이를, 미디안을 치신 그날처럼 부수십니다. 4 땅을 흔들며 저벅거리는 군화도, 피 속에 뒹군 군복도, 모조리 화염에 싸여 불꽃의 먹이가 됩니다. 5 우리에게 한 아기가 태어났고, 우리에게 한 아들이 주어졌습니다. 왕권이 그의 어깨에 놓이고, 그의 이름은 놀라운 경륜가, 용맹한 하느님, 영원한 아버지, 평화의 군왕이라 불리리이다. 6 다윗의 왕좌와 그의 왕국 위에 놓인 그 왕권은 강대하고, 그 평화는 끝이 없으리이다. 그는 이제부터 영원까지 공정과 정의로 그 왕국을 굳게 세우고 지켜 가리이다. 만군의 주님의 열정이 이를 이루시리이다.

They name him Wonder-Counselor, God-Hero, Father-Forever, Prince of Peace. 6 His dominion is vast and forever peaceful, from David's throne, and over his kingdom, which he confirms and sustains by judgment and justice, both now and forever. 해설) 하느님 구원의 은총이 모든 사람에게 나타났습니다. 그 은총은 우리의 불경건한 생활과 세속적인 욕심을 버리게 하고 이 세상에서 바르고 경건하게 살아가게 합니다. 참된 은총은 그리스도께서 영광스럽게 나타나실 복된 희망을 기다리게 합니다. 그 은총은 구원의 기쁜 소식을 마음속에 늘 간직하고 예수 그리스도를 따르는 삶을 살게 합니다.
사랑하는 그대여, 11 모든 사람에게 구원을 가져다주는 하느님의 은총이 나타났습니다. 12 이 은총이 우리를 교육하여, 불경함과 속된 욕망을 버리고 현세에서 신중하고 의롭고 경건하게 살도록 해 줍니다. 13 복된 희망이 이루어지기를, 우리의 위대하신 하느님이시며 구원자이신 예수 그리스도의 영광이 나타나기를 기다리는 우리를 그렇게 살도록 해 줍니다. 14 그리스도께서는 우리를 위하여 당신 자신을 내어 주시어, 우리를 모든 불의에서 해방하시고 또 깨끗하게 하시어, 선행에 열성을 기울이는 당신 소유의 백성이 되게 하셨습니다.

< 오늘 너희를 위하여 구원자가 태어나셨다.>
해설) 천사가 목동들에게 전한 메시지는 기쁨과 승리의 메시지입니다. 기쁜 소식은 목동들만을 위한 것이 아니라 온 세상 모든 사람을 위한 기쁜 소식입니다. 구원의 그 기쁜 소식은 인류를 구원할 구세주께서 탄생하셨다는 것입니다. 구세주를 알아보는 표지는 한 갓난아기가 포대기에 싸여 구유에 누워 있는 모습입니다.
1 그 무렵 아우구스투스 황제에게서 칙령이 내려, 온 세상이 호적 등록을 하게 되었다. 2 이 첫 번째 호적 등록은 퀴리니우스가 시리아 총독으로 있을 때에 실시되었다. 3 그래서 모두 호적 등록을 하러 저마다 자기 본향으로 갔다. 4 요셉도 갈릴래아 지방 나자렛 고을을 떠나 유다 지방, 베들레헴이라고 불리는 다윗 고을로 올라갔다. 그가 다윗 집안의 자손이었기 때문이다. 5 그는 자기와 약혼한 마리아와 함께 호적 등록을 하러 갔는데, 마리아는 임신 중이었다. 6 그들이 거기에 머무르는 동안 마리아는 해산 날이 되어, 7 첫아들을 낳았다. 그들은 아기를 포대기에 싸서 구유에 뉘었다. 여관에는 그들이 들어갈 자리가 없었던 것이다. 8 그 고장에는 들에 살면서 밤에도 양 떼를 지키는 목자들이 있었다. 9 그런데 주님의 천사가 다가오고 주님의 영광이 그 목자들의 둘레를 비추었다. 그들은 몹시 두려워하였다. 10 그러자 천사가 그들에게 말하였다. “두려워하지 마라. 보라, 나는 온 백성에게 큰 기쁨이 될 소식을 너희에게 전한다. 11 오늘 너희를 위하여 다윗 고을에서 구원자가 태어나셨으니, 주 그리스도이시다. 12 너희는 포대기에 싸여 구유에 누워 있는 아기를 보게 될 터인데, 그것이 너희를 위한 표징이다.” 13 그때에 갑자기 그 천사 곁에 수많은 하늘의 군대가 나타나 하느님을 이렇게 찬미하였다. 14 “지극히 높은 곳에서는 하느님께 영광, 땅에서는 그분 마음에 드는 사람들에게 평화!”

구세주 예수 그리스도께서 태어나셨습니다. 모든 사람에게 구원을 주는 하느님의 은총이 나타났습니다. 포대기에 싸여 구유에 누워있는 아기의 모습으로 구세주께서 오셨습니다. 밤을 지키는 목자들에게 처음으로 기쁜 소식이 전해졌습니다. 주님의 영광은 가난하고 겸손한 사람들을 통해 드러날 것입니다.

예수님의 탄생
+ 루카 2:1-14
1. 예수님께서 우리에게 오셨습니다. 영광스러운 모습이 아니라 작고 초라한 모습으로 구유에 강생하셨습니다. 우리를 너무나 사랑한 나머지 죄에서 우리를 구하시겠다고 비천한 인간의 모습으로 오셨습니다. 오늘 예수님의 탄생은 나에게 어떤 의미이며 희망으로 다가옵니까?
2. 목자들이 목격한 놀라운 장면을 떠 올려 보십시오. 어둠을 밝히는 불빛, 하늘의 군대와 천사들의 찬양 그 놀라운 장면을 그려 보며 나를 그 자리에 넣어 보십시오. 영광과 찬양 속에 천사들은 목자들에게 어떤 소식을 전하고 있습니까? 나는 어떻게 구원의 기쁜 소식을 알게 되었습니까? 예수님의 탄생과 기쁜 소식은 나의 삶에 어떤 희망과 용기를 주고 있습니까?

Christmas Eve – Mass at Midnight
Isaiah 9:1-7 / Titus 2:11-14 / Luke 2:1-14
Our first reading from Isaiah is a hymn of thanksgiving for the birth of a particular but very important child. This child would be king and would free the people from the yoke, the bar and the rod of those who oppress them. He will be called Wonder - Counsellor because he will have no need of anyone’s advice, unlike those kings who listened to the wrong advice which brought about the downfall of Israel. His rule will be like that of a loving father and this quality will bring about peace which will have no end. He will destroy war and oppression while assuming all authority.
In the second reading St Paul tells Titus that the grace of God has been revealed and this has been done in Jesus Christ. This is not simply confined to the Chosen People but is now available to all people because God has granted his grace to everyone. Paul also reminds Titus that they are waiting for the second coming of Christ and until then he should have no ambition other than to do good while teaching the people.
Our gospel passage from St Luke tells of the lowly birth of Jesus at Bethlehem. Luke names the Roman Emperor of the day who had brought peace and stability to the empire and says that this census was of the whole world, all of which serves to highlight that while the emperor was called Augustus, it was in fact this child who was Lord of Creation and who would bring about true peace. The shepherds, because of their proximity to the stable, were the first to hear the glad tidings and again the angel begins with the greeting ‘Do not be afraid’ because the good news about Jesus Christ and the Good News he preached dispel all fear and bring about peace. We too are called on to hear these same glad tidings afresh and to believe in and worship our Savior not just for these few days every year but right throughout the year and throughout our lives.

"Lord our God, with the birth of your Son, your glory breaks on the world. As we celebrate his first coming, give us a foretaste of the joy that you will grant us when the fullness of his glory has filled the earth." Amen.

오늘의 말씀
천지가 창조되기 전부터 말씀이 계셨습니다. 말씀은 하느님과 함께 계셨고 하느님과 같은 분이십니다. 모든 것이 말씀을 통해 생겨났고 말씀 없이 생겨난 것은 하나도 없습니다. 생겨난 모든 것이 그에게서 생명을 얻었으며 그 생명은 사람들의 빛입니다. 말씀이 곧 참 빛입니다. 그 빛이 이 세상에 와서 모든 사람을 비춥니다. 이제 하느님의 말씀이 사람이 되십니다. 이 세상에 하느님의 빛이 오십니다. 거룩한 날이 밝으며 구세주께서 탄생하십니다. 온 세상이 고요히 잠들어 있을 때 말씀이 사람이 되시어 우리 가운데 오십니다. 예수님은 우리에게 참된 기쁨을 주는 사랑의 왕이십니다.

< 땅끝들이 모두 우리 하느님의 구원을 보리라.>
해설) 주님께서 당신의 구원과 정의를 온 세상 만백성 앞에서 드러내 보이시고 밝히실 것입니다. 주님의 구원을 온 세상이 우러러 볼 것입니다. 주님께서 당신 백성을 위로하시고 예루살렘을 다시 찾으실 것입니다. 주님께서 만민 앞에서 당신의 팔을 걷어붙이시니 온 세상 모든 민족들이 진정 주님의 승리를 볼 것입니다.
7 얼마나 아름다운가, 산 위에 서서 기쁜 소식을 전하는 이의 저 발! 평화를 선포하고 기쁜 소식을 전하며 구원을 선포하는구나. “너의 하느님은 임금님이시다.” 하고 시온에게 말하는구나. 8 들어 보아라. 너의 파수꾼들이 목소리를 높인다. 다 함께 환성을 올린다. 주님께서 시온으로 돌아오심을, 그들은 직접 눈으로 본다. 9 예루살렘의 폐허들아, 다 함께 기뻐하며 환성을 올려라. 주님께서 당신 백성을 위로하시고, 예루살렘을 구원하셨다. 10 주님께서 모든 민족들이 보는 앞에서 당신의 거룩한 팔을 걷어붙이시니, 땅끝들이 모두 우리 하느님의 구원을 보리라.

하느님의 말씀이 사람이 되십니다. 온 세상이 모두 잠들어 있을 때 말씀이 사람이 되시어 우리 가운데 오십니다. 모든 사람을 비추는 생명의 빛으로 오십니다. 그 빛이 이 세상에 와서 모든 사람을 비춥니다. 그 빛은 생명의 빛이며 사랑의 빛입니다. 예수님은 우리에게 참된 기쁨과 희망을 주는 사랑의 빛입니다.

1. 예언자들을 통하여 오시기로 약속되었던 하느님의 말씀이 마침내 인간의 육을 취하시어 우리에게 오셨습니다. 나의 삶 안에 오시어 나와 함께 하고 계신 하느님의 모습을 찾아보십시오. 나의 삶에 하느님이 오심으로 해서 어떤 일들이 일어나고 있으며 나는 어떤 생각을 가지고 살고 있습니까?
2. 어두움을 밝히는 빛이신 하느님은 온 세상의 어두움을 몰아내고 당신의 빛으로 가득 채워 주십니다. 내가 하느님을 받아들임으로써 내 안의 어떤 어두움들이 사라졌습니까? 그리고 이 빛은 나를 어떻게 변화시키고 있습니까? 나는 언제 남을 위해서 내가 가진 것을 버리고 그들과 함께 한 경험이 있습니까?

Isaiah 52:7-10 / Hebrews 1:1-6 / John 1:1-18
Our first reading for today comes from the book of the prophet Isaiah and is one of jubilation because the people are about to be redeemed. The exile and the great troubles the people have labored under because of their sins are now being removed by the Lord and he himself is coming to redeem them. The ruined city of Jerusalem is the focal point and there the watchmen on the ruined walls see the king approaching and rouse the people to give praise and thanks.
Our second reading from the Letter to the Hebrews is a post-resurrectional text in which the author says that God had spoken to his people in past times through various prophets and in various other ways. But now he has spoken to us through his own Son who existed before all time and who was present at the creation of the world. This Son has now destroyed the power of sin and death and, for his sacrifice, has been exalted at God’s right hand in heaven.
In the gospel passage, we read the prologue of St John’s Gospel in which he speaks of Jesus Christ as being the Word of God, a Word which has been with God since the beginning, a Word which was God. He reminds us that this Word was in the world from the very beginning but the world did not recognize it and ultimately rejected it. Those who did recognize it and accept it would be the ones to be saved. We too will be saved if we truly accept that the Child who is born to us today is the Son of God and has the desire and the power to save us. The text is broken by the passage on John the Baptist but this reminds us that the Word entered into our world after someone had prepared the way. We are reminded to become the messenger in our day and to bring his message of salvation to all peoples, in this way helping to secure our own salvation.
Prayer :
"Almighty God and Father of light, your eternal Word leaped down from heaven in the silent watches of the night. Open our hearts to receive his life and increase our vision with the rising of dawn, that our lives may be filled with his glory and his peace.” Amen.
성녀 아나스타시아 (Saint Anastasia)

판노니아(Pannonia) 시르미움(오늘날 유고슬라비아의 미트로비카) 태생으로 알려진 성녀 아나스타시아는 디오클레티아누스 황제의 박해 때 감옥에 갇힌 신자들을 만나기 위해 아퀼레이아(Aquileia)에서 시르미움으로 갔다가 붙잡혀 같은 해 12월 25일 팔마리아(Palmaria) 섬에서 참수당했고, 유해는 훗날 성당으로 바뀐 아폴로니아(Apollonia)의 집에 안장되었다.
전설적인 자료에 의하면 그녀는 로마 귀족 프레텍사투스(Praetexatus)의 딸로서 이방인이던 푸빌리우스(Pubilius)와 결혼하였다. 남편이 죽자 그녀는 페르시아로 선교여행을 떠나 아퀼레이아까지 갔다가 디오클레티아누스 황제의 박해로 그녀 역시 체포되었다. 그녀는 배에 실려서 팔마리아 섬으로 끌려갔는데, 그 배에는 죄수들이 가득하여 괴롭힘을 당하다가 성녀 테오도타(Theodota)의 도움으로 기적적으로 구출되기도 하였다. 그녀는 5세기부터 로마(Roma)에서 공경을 받고 있으나 그녀에 관한 이야기들은 근거가 희박하다.
