Thursday of the Twenty-ninth Week in Ordinary Time
+ 로마서 6, 19-23
<이제 여러분은 죄에서 해방되고 하느님의 종이 되었습니다. >
해설) 그리스도인은 하느님 정의의 도구가 될 뿐만 아니라 하느님의 종이 되어야 합니다. 참된 그리스도인은 하느님을 섬기고 하느님의 계획을 실천하는 일에 전적으로 몸 바치는 사람이 되어야 합니다. 하느님을 올바로 섬기고 하느님의 사랑을 이웃과 함께 나누는 사람이 받는 선물은 영원한 생명입니다.
형제 여러분, 19 나는 여러분이 지닌 육의 나약성 때문에 사람들의 방식으로 말합니다. 여러분이 전에 자기 지체를 더러움과 불법에 종으로 넘겨 불법에 빠져 있었듯이, 이제는 자기 지체를 의로움에 종으로 바쳐 성화에 이르십시오. 20 여러분이 죄의 종이었을 때에는 의로움에 매이지 않았습니다. 21 그때에 여러분이 지금은 부끄럽게 여기는 것들을 행하여 무슨 소득을 거두었습니까? 그러한 것들의 끝은 죽음입니다. 22 그런데 이제 여러분이 죄에서 해방되고 하느님의 종이 되어 얻는 소득은 성화로 이끌어 줍니다. 또 그 끝은 영원한 생명입니다. 23 죄가 주는 품삯은 죽음이지만, 하느님의 은사는 우리 주 그리스도 예수님 안에서 받는 영원한 생명이기 때문입니다.

Brothers and sisters: 19 I am speaking in human terms because of the weakness of your nature. For just as you presented the parts of your bodies as slaves to impurity and to lawlessness for lawlessness, so now present them as slaves to righteousness for sanctification. 20 For when you were slaves of sin, you were free from righteousness. 21 But what profit did you get then from the things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death. 22 But now that you have been freed from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit that you have leads to sanctification, and its end is eternal life. 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
묵상) 믿음을 갖기 전의 인간은 불법의 종으로서 온갖 불법에 자신을 내맡기어 불법을 일삼았지만, 그리스도를 믿고 난 후의 인간은 하느님 정의의 종으로 자신을 바쳐 거룩한 사람이 되도록 힘써야 합니다. 죄의 종살이 생활은 결국 죽음을 맞이합니다. 참 그리스도인은 죄에서 해방되어 주님의 종이 된 것입니다.

< 나는 평화를 주러 온 것이 아니라 분열을 일으키러 왔다. >
해설) 예수님께서는 하느님 나라의 선포를 타오르는 불로 비유하십니다. 예수님께서는 하느님 나라를 선포하러 오셨으며 불이 활활 타오르듯이 하느님 나라의 선포가 온 세상에 울려 퍼지기를 열망하십니다. 예수님께서 받아야 하는 세례는 당신의 죽음입니다. 참 하느님이시며 참 인간이신 예수님께서는 당신의 죽음을 예감하십니다.
그때에 예수님께서 제자들에게 말씀하셨다. 49 “나는 세상에 불을 지르러 왔다. 그 불이 이미 타올랐으면 얼마나 좋으랴? 50 내가 받아야 하는 세례가 있다. 이 일이 다 이루어질 때까지 내가 얼마나 짓눌릴 것인가? 51 내가 세상에 평화를 주러 왔다고 생각하느냐? 아니다. 내가 너희에게 말한다. 오히려 분열을 일으키러 왔다. 52 이제부터는 한 집안의 다섯 식구가 서로 갈라져, 세 사람이 두 사람에게 맞서고 두 사람이 세 사람에게 맞설 것이다. 53 아버지가 아들에게, 아들이 아버지에게, 어머니가 딸에게, 딸이 어머니에게, 시어머니가 며느리에게, 며느리가 시어머니에게 맞서 갈라지게 될 것이다.”

Jesus said to his disciples: 49 "I have come to set the earth on fire,and how I wish it were already blazing! 50 There is a baptism with which I must be baptized, and how great is my anguish until it is accomplished! 51 Do you think that I have come to establish peace on the earth? No, I tell you, but rather division. 52 From now on a household of five will be divided, three against two and two against three; 53 a father will be divided against his son and a son against his father, a mother against her daughter and a daughter against her mother, a mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law."
묵상) 온 가족들은 예수님 때문에 갈라졌으며 이제 사람들은 예수님에 대해 분명한 입장을 취해야 할 때가 온 것입니다. 선과 악이 갈라지고, 진실과 허위가 갈라지며, 정의와 불의가 갈라질 것입니다. 종말에 예수님 때문에 아버지와 아들이 갈라지고, 어머니와 딸이 갈라지고, 며느리와 시어머니가 분명하게 갈라질 것입니다.
잘 먹고 많이 누리고 가족 간에 화목하게 살며 세상에서 쾌락을 누리는 삶이 우리에게 큰 유익이 되지 않습니다. 주님을 사랑하고 그분을 섬기는 일 이외에는 모두가 헛되기 때문입니다. 신심 있게 기도하고 침묵을 지키고 봉사의 삶을 살기 위해 세속과 세상을 모질게 끊어내야 합니다. 주님께만 희망을 두는 삶이 진정 영적으로 풍요로운 삶이기 때문입니다.

불을 지르러 왔다
+ 루카 12, 49-53
1. 말씀 안에 살려하고 복음을 전하려하면 할수록 어떤 불편함이나 방해를 체험한 적이 있습니까? 왜 하느님의 말씀대로 살면서 하느님의 말씀을 전하는 사람들이 세상에서 반대와 저항에 부딪치게 된다고 생각합니까? 하느님의 사랑의 진리가 왜 혼란을 가져오는 것 같습니까?
2. 나는 내가 주님을 따름으로써 겪게 되는 모든 불편함과 세상의 반대에 어떻게 맞서고 있습니까? 나는 하느님의 뜻과 역행하는 온갖 불의에 어떻게 반응합니까? 어떤 희생을 감수하더라도 끝까지 진실을 위해 불의에 맞섭니까? 아니면 불의와 타협하고 눈 감아버립니까?
Today’s Reflection :
Romans 6:19-23 / Luke 12:49-53
We continue reading from the letter to the Romans where we are told that we have been freed from the slavery of sin by Christ and that now we have the ability to live lives of righteousness. In so doing we will achieve eternal life with the Father. In talking about ‘wages,’ St Paul is referring to the wages a Roman soldier would have received and the ‘gift’ reminds the people of the gift the emperor gave out to people. Both remind us that our sins bring us closer to death or separation from God and that our sharing in eternal happiness is due entirely to the love of God.
In the Gospel we see Jesus telling the people that he has brought division with him. This may seem odd but when we look at it we realize that he is talking about division between those who believe in him and those who do not believe in him. The divisions which we see between those who do believe in Christ are at odds with his message. But in the world we see a very clear distinction between those who accept Christ and make every effort to live Christian lives faithful to the Gospel and those who do not accept him and continue in their own ways. Unity can only be achieved when we show others that belief in Christ is the right way to live and that it is not a dull and boring way to live but a path of joyfulness and fulfillment.

"Lord, may your love consume me and transform my life that I may truly desire nothing more than life with you. Make me strong in love and fidelity that nothing may hinder me from doing your will." Amen

다미아누스 푸르체리(Damianus, 또는 다미아노)는 15세기 초 피나리오에서 태어났는데, 이곳이 지금의 피날레 보르고이다. 그는 어린 아기 때에 어떤 미치광이에 의해 유괴되었는데, 이 아이가 숨겨진 곳을 가리키는 어떤 신비스런 빛의 인도를 받아 그를 찾았다고 한다. 장성한 후에 그는 도미니코회에 입회하였고, 롬바르디아(Lombardia)와 리구리아(Liguria) 지방의 유명한 설교가로 명성을 떨쳤다. 그는 1484년에 모데나 근교의 레치오에서 운명하여 그곳에 안장되었다.
