Monday of the Twelfth Week in Ordinary Time
+ 창세기 12, 1-9
< 아브람은 주님께서 이르신 대로 길을 떠났다. >
해설) 주님께서는 아브라함을 선택하여 부르셨습니다. 아브라함이 하란을 떠나 가나안 땅으로 이주함으로써 주님께서는 하느님 백성 공동체가 될 민족을 형성하기 시작하셨습니다. 아브라함에게 축복하여 그의 이름을 떨치게 할 것을 주님은 약속하셨으며, 아브라함은 주님의 말씀만을 믿고 먼 길을 떠났습니다.
그 무렵 1 주님께서 아브람에게 말씀하셨다. “네 고향과 친족과 아버지의 집을 떠나, 내가 너에게 보여 줄 땅으로 가거라. 2 나는 너를 큰 민족이 되게 하고, 너에게 복을 내리며, 너의 이름을 떨치게 하겠다. 그리하여 너는 복이 될 것이다. 3 너에게 축복하는 이들에게는 내가 복을 내리고, 너를 저주하는 자에게는 내가 저주를 내리겠다. 세상의 모든 종족들이 너를 통하여 복을 받을 것이다.” 4 아브람은 주님께서 이르신 대로 길을 떠났다. 롯도 그와 함께 떠났다. 아브람이 하란을 떠날 때, 그의 나이는 일흔다섯 살이었다. 5 아브람은 아내 사라이와 조카 롯과, 자기가 모은 재물과 하란에서 얻은 사람들을 데리고 가나안 땅을 향하여 길을 나서, 마침내 가나안 땅에 이르렀다. 6 아브람은 그 땅을 가로질러 스켐의 성소 곧 모레의 참나무가 있는 곳에 다다랐다. 그때 그 땅에는 가나안족이 살고 있었다. 7 주님께서 아브람에게 나타나 말씀하셨다. “내가 이 땅을 너의 후손에게 주겠다.” 아브람은 자기에게 나타나신 주님을 위하여 그곳에 제단을 쌓았다. 8 그는 그곳을 떠나 베텔 동쪽의 산악 지방으로 가서, 서쪽으로는 베텔이 보이고 동쪽으로는 아이가 보이는 곳에 천막을 쳤다. 그는 그곳에 주님을 위하여 제단을 쌓고, 주님의 이름을 받들어 불렀다. 9 아브람은 다시 길을 떠나 차츰차츰 네겝 쪽으로 옮겨 갔다.

1 The LORD said to Abram: "Go forth from the land of your kinsfolk and from your father's house to a land that I will show you. 2 "I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. 3 I will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you.All the communities of the earth shall find blessing in you." 4 Abram went as the LORD directed him, and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he left Haran. 5 Abram took his wife, Sarai, his brother's son Lot, all the possessions that they had accumulated, and the persons they had acquired in Haran, and they set out for the land of Canaan. 6 When they came to the land of Canaan, Abram passed through the land as far as the sacred place at Shechem,by the terebinth of Moreh. The Canaanites were then in the land. 7 The LORD appeared to Abram and said, "To your descendants I will give this land." So Abram built an altar there to the LORD who had appeared to him. 8 From there he moved on to the hill country east of Bethel, pitching his tent with Bethel to the west and Ai to the east. He built an altar there to the LORD and invoked the LORD by name. 9 Then Abram journeyed on by stages to the Negeb.
묵상) 아브라함 역사의 시작은 곧 인류 역사의 시작입니다. 아브라함과 더불어 하느님 백성 공동체가 생겨날 것입니다. 이 공동체는 주님의 축복을 세상의 만백성에게 가져야 줄 사명을 띨 것입니다. 주님은 인류에 대한 축복을 아브라함과 그 후손들을 통하여 모든 사람에게 내려 주실 것입니다. 하느님 백성은 이렇게 시작된 것입니다.

< 먼저 네 눈에서 들보를 빼내어라. >
해설) 남을 판단하지 말아야 합니다. 남을 판단하는 대로 하느님의 심판을 받을 것입니다. 남을 단죄하지 말아야합니다. 남을 단죄하는 대로 하느님의 단죄를 받을 것입니다. 남을 저울질하지 말아야 합니다. 남을 저울질하는 대로 주님의 저울질을 당할 것입니다. 남을 판단하고 단죄하기 전에 먼저 자기 자신을 볼 수 있어야 합니다.
그때에 예수님께서 제자들에게 말씀하셨다. 1 “남을 심판하지 마라. 그래야 너희도 심판받지 않는다. 2 너희가 심판하는 그대로 너희도 심판받고, 너희가 되질하는 바로 그 되로 너희도 받을 것이다. 3 너는 어찌하여 형제의 눈 속에 있는 티는 보면서, 네 눈 속에 있는 들보는 깨닫지 못하느냐? 4 네 눈 속에는 들보가 있는데, 어떻게 형제에게 ‘가만, 네 눈에서 티를 빼내 주겠다.’ 하고 말할 수 있느냐? 5 위선자야, 먼저 네 눈에서 들보를 빼내어라. 그래야 네가 뚜렷이 보고 형제의 눈에서 티를 빼낼 수 있을 것이다.”

Jesus said to his disciples: 1 "Stop judging, that you may not be judged. 2 For as you judge, so will you be judged, and the measure with which you measure will be measured out to you. 3 Why do you notice the splinter in your brother's eye,but do not perceive the wooden beam in your own eye? 4 How can you say to your brother, 'Let me remove that splinter from your eye,' while the wooden beam is in your eye? 5 You hypocrite, remove the wooden beam from your eye first; then you will see clearly to remove the splinter from your brother's eye."
묵상) 상대방의 눈 속에 들어 있는 티는 잘 보면서도 자기 눈 속에 들어 있는 들보는 깨닫지 못합니다. 상대방의 잘못은 크게 보이고 잘 보입니다. 그래서 상대방을 깔보고 흉보고 욕합니다. 그런 사람들은 정작 자기 자신을 보지 못합니다. 상대방의 잘못이 눈에 들어오면 그것을 거울삼아 자기 자신을 돌아보아야 할 것입니다.
사람들은 부족하고 나약하기에 누구나 죄를 짓고 실수를 합니다. 그러면서도 다른 사람의 잘못에는 가차없이 질책하고 단죄합니다. 그러한 우리를 주님께서는 언제나 용서해 주시고 한없이 기다려주십니다. 기도하는 사람은 자기 자신을 돌아보고 주님께서 베푸신 은혜를 깨달을 것이며 그리하여 먼저 자신을 정화시키려고 노력할 것입니다.

남을 심판하지 마라.

1. 오늘 복음에서 '남을 심판하면 너희도 심판받을 것'이라는 예수님의 말씀이 나에게 어떤 의미로 들립니까? 그리고 이 말씀을 하고 계시는 예수님의 얼굴은 어떤 표정을 하고 계십니까? 화난 표정입니까? 온화한 모습입니까? 나는 혹시 내 주변의 누군가를 편견을 갖고 단죄하거나 흉보지는 않았습니까? 나는 왜 예수님의 말씀을 실천하지 못하고 있습니까?
2. 내가 주변에서 친구로 받아들이는 사람은 어떤 사람들입니까? 왜 나는 그 사람들만을 친구로 받아들이고 있습니까? 혹시 나는 내안의 이기적인 마음 때문에 내 것, 나의 식구, 나의 친구들만 중요하고 내가 모르는 사람들에게 배타적이거나 인색하진 않습니까? 남을 이해하고 베풀지 못하는 이유가 내안에 사랑이 부족하기 때문이란 생각은 해보지 않았습니까?
Today’s Reflection : Matthew 7: 1-5
Avoiding Judgment
Everybody is a critic, but nobody wants to be judged or condemned. Then why is judgementalism so rampant, even among Christians? "Thinking the best of other people" is necessary if we wish to grow in love. And kindliness in judgment is nothing less that a sacred duty. The Rabbis warned people: "He who judges his neighbor favorably will be judged favorably by God." How easy it is to misjudge and how difficult it is to be impartial in judgment. Our judgment of others is usually “off the mark” because we can’t see inside the person, or we don’t have access to all the facts, or we are swayed by instinct and unreasoning reactions to people. It is easier to find fault in others than in oneself.
Jesus states a heavenly principle we can stake our lives on: what you give to others (and how you treat others) will return to you. The Lord knows our faults and he sees all, even the imperfections and sins of the heart which we cannot recognize in ourselves. Like a gentle father and a skillful doctor he patiently draws us to his seat of mercy and removes the cancer of sin which inhabits our hearts. Do you trust in God’s mercy and grace? Ask the Lord to flood your heart with his loving-kindness and mercy that you may only have room for charity and forbearance towards your neighbor.
Prayer :
"O Father, give us the humility which realizes its ignorance, admits its mistakes, recognizes its need, welcomes advice, accepts rebuke. Help us always to praise rather than to criticize, to sympathize rather than to discourage, to build rather than to destroy, and to think of people at their best rather than at their worst. This we ask for thy name’s sake. Amen.

이탈리아 트렌토의 주요 수호성인이 성 비길리우스(또는 비질리오)이다. 로마족인 그는 트렌토에서 태어났고, 아테네(Athenae)에서 교육을 받았다. 그 후 385년에 트렌토의 주교가 되었는데, 밀라노(Milano) 대주교이던 성 암브로시우스(Ambrosius)에게 보낸 그의 편지가 남아 있다. 이 편지에는 그가 이방인들에게 복음을 전하면서 당한 여러 가지 어려움을 적었고, 또 순례에 관한 의견도 나온다. 또 성 시시니우스(Sisinius)와 성 마르티리우스(Martyrius) 그리고 성 알렉산데르(Alexander)의 순교록을 적었다. 그는 렌데나 계곡으로 선교하던 중 사투른 신상을 파괴하여 돌을 맞고 순교하였다.
