Monday of the Sixth Week of Easter
+ 사도행전 16,11-15
<주님께서는 바오로가 하는 말에 귀 기울이도록 그의 마음을 열어 주셨다. >
해설) 마케도니아는 유럽에 있으며 필리피는 유럽에서 복음을 받아들인 첫 번째 도시입니다. 필리피 공동체는 바오로의 유럽 선교를 위한 중요한 공동체입니다. 필리피 교회는 유럽 선교에서 처음부터 바오로와 함께 참여했고 바오로를 경제적으로 지원하였습니다. 그래서 바오로는 필리피 공동체에 큰 관심을 보였습니다.
11 우리는 배를 타고 트로아스를 떠나 사모트라케로 직행하여, 이튿날 네아폴리스로 갔다. 12 거기에서 또 필리피로 갔는데, 그곳은 마케도니아 지역에서 첫째가는 도시로, 로마 식민시였다. 우리는 그 도시에서 며칠을 보냈는데, 13 안식일에는 유다인들의 기도처가 있다고 생각되는 성문 밖 강가로 나갔다. 그리고 거기에 앉아, 그곳에 모여 있는 여자들에게 말씀을 전하였다. 14 티아티라 시 출신의 자색 옷감 장수로 이미 하느님을 섬기는 이였던 리디아라는 여자도 듣고 있었는데, 바오로가 하는 말에 귀 기울이도록 하느님께서 그의 마음을 열어 주셨다. 15 리디아는 온 집안과 함께 세례를 받고 나서, “저를 주님의 신자로 여기시면 저의 집에 오셔서 지내십시오.” 하고 청하며 우리에게 강권하였다.

11 We set sail from Troas, making a straight run for Samothrace, and on the next day to Neapolis, 12 and from there to Philippi, a leading city in that district of Macedonia and a Roman colony. We spent some time in that city. 13 On the sabbath we went outside the city gate along the river where we thought there would be a place of prayer. We sat and spoke with the women who had gathered there. 14 One of them, a woman named Lydia, a dealer in purple cloth,from the city of Thyatira, a worshiper of God, listened, and the Lord opened her heart to pay attention to what Paul was saying. 15 After she and her household had been baptized, she offered us an invitation, "If you consider me a believer in the Lord, come and stay at my home," and she prevailed on us.
묵상) 필리피에는 유다교 회당이 없었으며 그래서 유다인들은 강가에서 모임을 가졌습니다. 바오로는 유다인들이 모이는 강가에 가서 복음을 전하였습니다. 하느님을 공경하는 리디아는 그리스도의 복음을 받아들였고 온 집안 식구와 함께 세례를 받았습니다. 바오로는 회당이든 강가든 복음을 전할 수 있는 곳이라면 어디든지 갔습니다.

< 진리의 영이 나를 증언하실 것이다. >
해설) 진리의 성령이 예수님을 증언할 것입니다. 진리의 성령이 세상에서 직접 증언하는 것이 아니라 제자들을 통해서 증언할 것이며, 제자들은 성령의 도움으로 진리를 증언할 것입니다. 협조자의 증언과 제자들의 증언은 하나의 증언입니다. 진리의 성령이 오시면 그분은 진리 자체이신 예수 그리스도를 증언할 것입니다.
그때에 예수님께서 제자들에게 말씀하셨다. 26 “내가 아버지에게서 너희에게로 보낼 보호자, 곧 아버지에게서 나오시는 진리의 영이 오시면, 그분께서 나를 증언하실 것이다. 27 그리고 너희도 처음부터 나와 함께 있었으므로 나를 증언할 것이다. 16,1 내가 너희에게 이 말을 한 이유는 너희가 떨어져 나가지 않게 하려는 것이다. 2 사람들이 너희를 회당에서 내쫓을 것이다. 게다가 너희를 죽이는 자마다 하느님께 봉사한다고 생각할 때가 온다. 3 그들은 아버지도, 나도 알지 못하기 때문에 그러한 짓을 할 것이다. 4 내가 너희에게 이 말을 한 이유는, 그들의 때가 오면 내가 너희에게 한 말을 기억하게 하려는 것이다.”

Jesus said to his disciples: 26 "When the Advocate comes whom I will send you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, he will testify to me. 27 And you also testify, because you have been with me from the beginning. 16:1 "I have told you this so that you may not fall away. 2 They will expel you from the synagogues; in fact, the hour is coming when everyone who kills you will think he is offering worship to God. 3 They will do this because they have not known either the Father or me. 4 I have told you this so that when their hour comes you may remember that I told you."
묵상) 예수님께서 하느님을 증언하듯이, 진리의 성령은 예수 그리스도를 증언할 것입니다. 그 증언은 그리스도의 복음 선포입니다. 제자들은 예수님을 직접 체험한 증인들로서 권위 있는 복음 선포자들입니다. 제자들이 복음 선포를 하기 위해서는 성령께 의탁해야 합니다. 그러면 성령께서는 제자들을 통해 그리스도를 증언할 것입니다.
바오로가 필리피에서 복음을 선포할 때 하느님께서 리디아의 마음을 열어 주셨습니다. 그래서 유럽에서는 처음으로 리디아와 그의 가족들이 세례를 받았습니다. 하느님께서 우리의 마음을 열어 주시면 진리의 성령께서 우리에게 오실 것입니다. 성령의 인도로 우리는 예수 그리스도를 믿고 따르고 증거 하는 삶을 살 것입니다.

세상이 너희를 미워할 것이다

1. 예수님께서는 왜 우리에게 성령을 보내시려 하십니까? 성령께 온전히 의탁하고 의지할 때 우리에게 주시는 것은 무엇입니까? 그리고 그것으로 우리는 어떻게 변화될 수 있습니까? 우리가 세상에 나가 선포하여야 하는 것은 무엇입니까?
2. 내게 있어 복음을 세상에 선포하는데 따르는 두려움은 무엇입니까? 사람들의 시선과 수군거림입니까? 아니면 세상으로 부터 받을 멸시와 불이익 입니까? 때때로 내안에 있는 나의 주장과 완고함이 성령께서 하시고자 하는 일을 방해하지는 않습니까?
Today’s Gospel Reflection : John 15:26-16:4a
hen you need help or support who do you turn to? A friend who has earned your trust? Jesus offers his disciples the best and truest of friends. Who is this promised friend? Jesus calls the Holy Spirit our Counselor and Advocate (also translated Paraclete or Helper). Counselor is a legal term for the one who will defend someone against an adversary and who guides that person during the ordeal of trial. The Holy Spirit is our Advocate and Helper who brings us safely through the challenges and adversities we must face in this life. As Jesus approached the hour he was to be glorified -- through his death on the cross and his resurrection, he revealed more fully to his disciples the person and role of the Holy Spirit. What does Jesus tell us about the Holy Spirit? First, the Holy Spirit is inseparably one with the Father and the Son. It is the Holy Spirit who gives life— the very life of God -- and who kindles faith in hearts receptive to God's word. The Spirit makes it possible for us to know God personally. He gives us experiential knowledge of God as our Father. The Spirit witnesses to our spirit that the Father has indeed sent his Son into the world to redeem it and has raised his Son Jesus from the dead and has seated him at his right hand in glory and power. The Holy Spirit reveals to us the knowledge, wisdom and plan of God for the ages and the Spirit enables us to see with the "eyes of faith" what the Father and the Son are doing. Through the gift and working of the Holy Spirit we become witnesses to the great work of God in Christ Jesus. Jesus warned his disciples that they could expect persecution just as Jesus was opposed and treated hostilely. We have been given the Holy Spirit to help us live as disciples of Jesus Christ. The Spirit gives us courage and perseverance when we meet adversities and challenges. Do you pray for the Holy Spirit to strengthen you in faith, hope and love and to give you courage and perseverance with hope when you meet adversities and challenges?
Ponder :
To what extent is the lifestyle we cherish nowadays out of tune from the one lived by Christ?
Prayer : "O merciful God, fill our hearts, we pray, with the graces of your Holy Spirit; with love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, goodness, faithfulness, humility and self-control. Teach us to love those who hate us; to pray for those who despitefully use us; that we may be the children of your love, our Father, who makes the sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. In adversity grant us grace to be patient; in prosperity keep us humble; may we guard the door of our lips; may we lightly esteem the pleasures of this world, and thirst after heavenly things; through Jesus Christ our Lord." (Prayer of Anselm, 1033-1109). Amen
성녀 리타(Saint Rita)

이탈리아 중부 움브리아(Umbria) 고원 남단에 위치한 스폴레토(Spoleto) 부근 로카포레나(Roccaporena)에서 태어난 성녀 리타는 어려서부터 수도성소에 관심을 가졌지만 부모의 반대로 말미암아 12세의 어린 나이로 원하지 않았던 결혼을 하여 두 아이를 두었지만 18년간의 결혼생활은 불행하였다. 남편은 어린 아내를 학대했을 뿐만 아니라 결국은 어떤 사람과의 싸움 끝에 살해당하고 말았다. 그 후 두 아들마저 죽게 되자 성녀 리타는 카시아의 성 아우구스티누스회에 세 번이나 입회 신청서를 냈지만 미혼이 아니라는 이유로 번번이 거절당하였다. 그러나 그녀의 강한 믿음과 인내는 결국 예외를 만들어 1413년 카시아에 있는 산타 마리아 막달레나의 아우구스티누스회에 입회 허락을 받아내었다.
그녀는 지난날의 생활을 반성하며 자신처럼 불우한 사람들에게 많은 관심을 갖고 철저한 고행과 기도생활에 전념하였다. 또한 그녀는 수차례나 환시를 체험하였고, 1441년에는 가시관을 쓰신 예수님과 꼭 같은 상처로 주님의 고난에 동참하기도 하였다. 카시아의 수도원에서 선종한 후 그녀의 성덕과 기적에 대한 평판이 높아져 성녀의 유해를 중심으로 새 성당이 건축되었다. 성녀 리타는 1626년 7월 16일 교황 우르바누스 8세(Urbanus VIII)에 의해 시복되었고, 1900년 5월 24일 교황 레오 13세(Leo XIII)에 의해 성인품에 올랐다. 자신의 불우한 처지에도 불구하고 결코 좌절하지 않고 하느님께 대한 굳은 믿음을 갖고 불우한 사람들에게 봉사한 리타 성녀는 좌절하고 실망한 사람들의 수호성인으로 공경을 받고 있다.
