< 에즈라가 율법서를 펴고 주님을 찬양하자, 온 백성은 “아멘, 아멘!” 하고 응답하였다. >
해설) 사제 에즈라는 모세의 법전을 가지고 백성들 앞에 나타납니다. 그 자리에는 남자와 여자 그리고 아이들에 이르기까지 말귀를 알아들을 만한 사람은 모두 모입니다. 사제 에즈라는 백성들이 알아듣고 깨칠 수 있도록 주님의 법전을 읽으며 풀이해 줍니다. 유다 백성들은 주님의 가르침을 깨닫고 기뻐하며 돌아갑니다.
그 무렵 1 온 백성이 일제히 ‘물 문’ 앞 광장에 모여, 율법 학자 에즈라에게 주님께서 이스라엘에게 명령하신 모세의 율법서를 가져오도록 청하였다. 2 에즈라 사제는 남자와 여자, 그리고 말귀를 알아들을 수 있는 모든 이로 이루어진 회중 앞에 율법서를 가져왔다. 때는 일곱째 달 초하룻날이었다. 3 그는 ‘물 문’ 앞 광장에서, 해 뜰 때부터 한낮이 되기까지 남자와 여자와 알아들을 수 있는 이들에게 그것을 읽어 주었다. 백성은 모두 율법서의 말씀에 귀를 기울였다. 4 율법 학자 에즈라는 이 일에 쓰려고 만든 나무 단 위에 섰다. 5 에즈라는 온 백성보다 높은 곳에 자리를 잡았으므로, 그들이 모두 보는 앞에서 책을 폈다. 그가 책을 펴자 온 백성이 일어섰다. 6 에즈라가 위대하신 주 하느님을 찬양하자, 온 백성은 손을 쳐들고 “아멘, 아멘!” 하고 응답하였다. 그런 다음에 무릎을 꿇고 땅에 엎드려 주님께 경배하였다. 7 그러자 레위인들이 백성에게 율법을 가르쳐 주었다. 백성은 그대로 서 있었다. 8 그들은 그 책, 곧 하느님의 율법을 번역하고 설명하면서 읽어 주었다. 그래서 백성은 읽어 준 것을 알아들을 수 있었다. 9 느헤미야 총독과 율법 학자며 사제인 에즈라와 백성을 가르치던 레위인들이 온 백성에게 타일렀다. “오늘은 주 여러분의 하느님께 거룩한 날이니, 슬퍼하지도 울지도 마십시오.” 율법의 말씀을 들으면서 온 백성이 울었기 때문이다. 10 에즈라가 다시 그들에게 말하였다. “가서 맛있는 음식을 먹고 단 술을 마시십시오. 오늘은 우리 주님께 거룩한 날이니, 미처 마련하지 못한 이에게는 그의 몫을 보내 주십시오. 주님께서 베푸시는 기쁨이 바로 여러분의 힘이니, 서러워하지들 마십시오.” 11 레위인들도 “오늘은 거룩한 날이니, 조용히 하고 서러워하지들 마십시오.” 하며 온 백성을 진정시켰다. 12 온 백성은 자기들에게 선포된 말씀을 알아들었으므로, 가서 먹고 마시고 몫을 나누어 보내며 크게 기뻐하였다.

1 The whole people gathered as one in the open space before the Water Gate, and they called upon Ezra the scribe to bring forth the book of the law of Moses which the LORD prescribed for Israel. 2 On the first day of the seventh month, therefore, Ezra the priest brought the law before the assembly, which consisted of men, women, and those children old enough to understand. 3 Standing at one end of the open place that was before the Water Gate, he read out of the book from daybreak until midday, in the presence of the men, the women, and those children old enough to understand; and all the people listened attentively to the book of the law. 4a Ezra the scribe stood on a wooden platform that had been made for the occasion. 5 He opened the scroll so that all the people might see it for he was standing higher up than any of the people; and, as he opened it, all the people rose. 6 Ezra blessed the LORD, the great God, and all the people, their hands raised high, answered, "Amen, amen!" Then they bowed down and prostrated themselves before the LORD, their faces to the ground. 7b As the people remained in their places, 8 Ezra read plainly from the book of the law of God, interpreting it so that all could understand what was read. 9 Then Nehemiah, that is, His Excellency, and Ezra the priest-scribe and the Levites who were instructing the people said to all the people: "Today is holy to the LORD your God. Do not be sad, and do not weep"– for all the people were weeping as they heard the words of the law. 10 He said further: "Go, eat rich foods and drink sweet drinks, and allot portions to those who had nothing prepared; for today is holy to our LORD. Do not be saddened this day, for rejoicing in the LORD must be your strength!" 11 And the Levites quieted all the people, saying, "Hush, for today is holy, and you must not be saddened." 12 Then all the people went to eat and drink, to distribute portions, and to celebrate with great joy, for they understood the words that had been expounded to them.
묵상) 그리스도교인은 주님의 말씀을 듣고 '아멘'이라고 응답합니다. 공동체는 형제자매들이 주님께 '아멘'이라고 선언한 내용을 실천하는 곳입니다. 참된 공동체는 친교의 장이며 주님의 말씀을 서로 나누는 곳입니다. 그리스도 공동체는 세상에 그리스도를 증거 하기 위하여 주님 말씀대로 살아가는 사람들이 한 데 모이는 곳입니다.

< 너희의 평화가 그 사람 위에 머무를 것이다. >
해설) 예수님의 참 제자는 가난하고 겸손하고 정결하고 청빈해야 하며 평화의 전달자로서 어려움에 처한 사람들에게 관심을 갖고 하느님 나라를 전하는 사람이어야 합니다. 예수님께서 당신 제자를 통해 전하는 하느님 나라의 기쁜 소식을 받아들이지 않는 사람은 새로운 역사의 밖에 머물게 될 것입니다.
그때에 1 주님께서는 다른 제자 일흔두 명을 지명하시어, 몸소 가시려는 모든 고을과 고장으로 당신에 앞서 둘씩 보내시며, 2 그들에게 말씀하셨다. “수확할 것은 많은데 일꾼은 적다. 그러니 수확할 밭의 주인님께 일꾼들을 보내 주십사고 청하여라. 3 가거라. 나는 이제 양들을 이리 떼 가운데로 보내는 것처럼 너희를 보낸다. 4 돈주머니도 여행 보따리도 신발도 지니지 말고, 길에서 아무에게도 인사하지 마라. 5 어떤 집에 들어가거든 먼저 ‘이 집에 평화를 빕니다.’ 하고 말하여라. 6 그 집에 평화를 받을 사람이 있으면 너희의 평화가 그 사람 위에 머무르고, 그렇지 않으면 너희에게 되돌아올 것이다. 7 같은 집에 머무르면서 주는 것을 먹고 마셔라. 일꾼이 품삯을 받는 것은 당연하다. 이 집 저 집으로 옮겨 다니지 마라. 8 어떤 고을에 들어가든지 너희를 받아들이면 차려 주는 음식을 먹어라. 9 그곳 병자들을 고쳐 주며, ‘하느님의 나라가 여러분에게 가까이 왔습니다.’ 하고 말하여라. 10 어떤 고을에 들어가든지 너희를 받아들이지 않으면 한길에 나가 말하여라. 11 ‘여러분의 고을에서 우리 발에 묻은 먼지까지 여러분에게 털어 버리고 갑니다. 그러나 이것만은 알아 두십시오. 하느님의 나라가 가까이 왔습니다.’ 12 내가 너희에게 말한다. 그날에는 소돔이 그 고을보다 견디기 쉬울 것이다.”

1 Jesus appointed seventy-two other disciples whom he sent ahead of him in pairs to every town and place he intended to visit. 2 He said to them, "The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few; so ask the master of the harvest to send out laborers for his harvest. 3 Go on your way; behold, I am sending you like lambs among wolves. 4 Carry no money bag, no sack, no sandals; and greet no one along the way. 5 Into whatever house you enter, first say, 'Peace to this household.' 6 If a peaceful person lives there, your peace will rest on him; but if not, it will return to you. 7 Stay in the same house and eat and drink what is offered to you, for the laborer deserves his payment. Do not move about from one house to another. 8 Whatever town you enter and they welcome you, eat what is set before you, 9 cure the sick in it and say to them, 'The Kingdom of God is at hand for you.' 10 Whatever town you enter and they do not receive you, go out into the streets and say, 11 'The dust of your town that clings to our feet, even that we shake off against you.' Yet know this: the Kingdom of God is at hand.12 I tell you, it will be more tolerable for Sodom on that day than for that town."
묵상) 예수님의 참 제자는 하느님 나라를 전하기 위해 예언자적 의미에서 청빈한 생활을 해야 합니다. 그리스도의 참 제자는 하느님의 일꾼으로 받은 대접에 만족해야 하며, 하느님 나라를 향해 여행하는 순례자의 자세를 가져야 합니다. 가벼운 몸가짐과 청빈한 마음가짐이어야 진정 기쁘게 하느님 나라를 전할 것입니다.
주님의 이름에는 구원이 있습니다. 그러나 주님을 알지 못한다면 주님의 이름을 부를 수 없을 것입니다. 우리는 세례를 받으면서 세상에 주님의 이름과 말씀과 권능을 전하는 예언직의 사명을 받습니다. 우리는 세상에 예수 그리스도를 전하는 사람이 되어야 합니다. 내가 경험한 '좋으신 주님'을 삶으로 전하는 것이야말로 가장 큰 선교입니다.

일흔두 제자를 파견하시다.
+ 루카 10,1-12
1. 예수님께서 당신을 따르는 다른 제자 72명을 세상에 파견하십니다. 예수님은 그들을 보내며 할 것과 하지 말아야 할 것을 일러주십니다. 제자들에게 왜 추수할 일꾼이 필요하다고 하셨으며 왜 그들을 이리떼가 들끓는 곳에 보내는 양들과 같다고 하십니까? 또 왜 아무것도 지니고 가지 말라고 하십니까? 사람들에게 하늘나라를 선포하고 평화를 빌어주라는 것은 어떤 의미입니까?
2. 진리에 귀 막고 눈 막고 세속적으로 사는 세상 모든 사람들에게 복음 선포는 신자인 우리들이 마땅히 해야 할 사명이며 의무입니다. 나는 살면서 복음의 기쁜 소식을 전하는데 얼마나 많은 시간과 노력을 기울입니까? 예수님께서 일러주시는 전교의 자세와 내 삶의 자세에서 어떤 차이점을 찾을 수 있습니까?

First Reading : Nehemiah 8:1-12 Holy Gospel : Luke 10:1-12
Seventy-two sent
In our first reading today we read of the people gathered in the square to hear the word of the Lord read by Ezra and explained by the Levites. They are told that the day is sacred to the Lord and that they are to be happy and not sad. Ezra had spent time in exile with his fellow Jews and only returned to Jerusalem because he felt called to help the people rebuild their faith according to the Mosaic Law. Much of the faith of the people after this return from exile is shaped by Ezra.
In the Gospel we see Jesus sending out seventy-two of his followers to preach in his name. We are their successors and therefore we have a duty to bring the Gospel message to all people wherever or however we meet them.
Prayer :
“Lord, may the joy and truth of the gospel transform my life that I may witness it to those around me. Grant that I may spread your truth and your light wherever I go." Amen.
성녀 마리아 요세파 로셀로 (Saint Mary Josepha Rossello)

이탈리아 북서부 리구리아(Liguria)의 사보나(Savona)에서 가까운 알비솔라 마리나(Albisola Marina)에서 짐꾼의 아홉 자녀 가운데 하나로 태어난 성녀 마리아 요세파 로셀로(Maria Josepha Rossello)는 어려운 가정 형편 때문에 어려서부터 집안 살림을 돕기 위해 여러 가지 일을 하였다. 어려서부터 신심이 깊었던 그녀는 일찍이 수도생활을 원했으나 건강 등의 문제로 뜻을 이루지 못하였고, 16세 때에 작은 형제회의 3회원이 되었다.
1837년 그녀의 재능을 알아 본 사보나 교구의 주교가 그녀에게 집을 한 채 주고 소녀와 처녀들을 가르치는 일을 하도록 하였다. 이렇게 소규모로 출발한 이 단체는 나중에 병원과 학교 등을 거느린 ‘자비의 모후 수녀회’로 크게 발전하였다. 성녀 마리아 요세파 로셀로는 40년 이상 이 수녀회를 운영하는데 헌신하였다. 그녀가 설립한 수녀회는 이미 그녀의 생전에 이탈리아와 라틴 아메리카 등으로 활발히 퍼져 나갔다. 1880년 12월 7일 선종한 그녀는 1938년 11월 6일 교황 비오 11세(Pius XI)에 의해 시복되었고, 1949년 교황 비오 12세에 의해 시성되었다.
