The Fifteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
이웃이 되어 주어라
오늘은 연중 제15주일입니다. 오늘 성경 말씀의 주제는 주님 사랑의 계명입니다. 주님의 계명은 사랑의 계명입니다. 주님의 계명은 주님을 하느님으로 바르게 섬기고, 주님께서 창조하신 이웃들을 주님을 사랑하는 그 사랑으로 사랑해야 한다는 계명입니다. 주님의 계명은 하느님 사랑과 이웃 사랑으로 요약 할 수 있습니다.
제1독서는 신명기의 말씀입니다. 하느님의 백성은 주님만을 섬겨야 합니다. 하느님의 백성은 다른 신들을 따라 그 신들을 섬기지 말아야 합니다. 주님께서 명하신 말씀을 귀담아 들어 그의 모든 명령을 성심껏 실천하면 주님께서는 땅위에 있는 만백성위에 당신 백성을 높여주실 것입니다. 주님의 말씀에 순종하기만 하면 온갖 복을 내릴 것이며, 주님 백성이 손을 대는 모든 일에 복이 넘칠 것입니다. 주님께서 당신 백성에게 내리는 법은 엄두도 내지 못할 일이 아닙니다. 그것이 하늘에 있거나 바다 건너 저쪽이 있지 않습니다. 주님의 계명은 아주 가까운 곳에 있습니다. 그것은 우리의 입에 있고 우리 마음에 있어서 하려고만 하면 언제든지 할 수 있습니다.
제2독서는 콜로새 신자들에게 보낸 서간입니다. 예수 그리스도는 보이지 않는 하느님의 보이는 형상입니다. 하늘과 땅에 있는 보이는 만물은 물론이고 왕권과 주권과 권세와 세력의 여러 천신들과 같이 보이지 않는 것까지도 모두 그리스도를 통해서 창조 됩니다. 세상 모든 만물은 그리스도를 통해서 그리고 그리스도를 위하여 창조됩니다. 그리스도는 세상 만물보다 앞서 계시고 만물은 예수 그리스도로 말미암아 존속합니다. 그리스도는 교회의 머리이십니다. 그리스도는 모든 것의 시작이시며 마침이시고 만물의 으뜸이십니다. 하느님께서는 예수 그리스도를 통하여 하늘과 땅의 만물과 올바른 관계를 갖게 됩니다. 십자가에서 흘리신 예수님의 피로써 평화를 이룩하십니다.
오늘 복음은 루카 복음입니다. 하느님의 모상대로 창조된 인간은 하느님에게서 왔으며 하느님에게로 가야만 하는 존재입니다. 그래서 모든 인간은 영원한 생명을 원합니다. 주님의 영원한 생명을 얻으려면 주님의 계명을 지켜야 합니다. 인간이 진정 영생을 얻으려면 주님 사랑의 법을 지켜야 합니다. 주님의 계명은 온 마음과 온 목숨과 온 힘과 온 생각을 다하여 주님을 섬기고 사랑하는 것입니다. 그리고 주님을 사랑하는 그 사랑으로 이웃을 사랑하는 것입니다. 이웃 사랑의 실천에는 종족이나 인종이나 종교나 국가나 사회계급과 같은 장벽이 있어서는 안 됩니다. 누가 이웃인가를 따지지 말고 가난하고 소외된 사람들의 이웃이 되어 주어야 합니다.

해설) 출애굽은 참된 자유에로의 초대이며, 주님의 계약은 그 자유의 수락이고, 주님의 율법은 새로운 사회에 필요한 자유의 헌장입니다. 주님은 율법으로써 인간의 존엄성이 유지되는 사회와 인간을 노예화하거나 비천하게 만드는 온갖 것들로부터 자유로운 사회를 창조하고자 하십니다. 이 법은 아주 가까이 있어 지키려고만 하면 언제든지 지킬 수 있습니다.
모세가 백성에게 말하였다. 10 “너희는 주 너희 하느님의 말씀을 듣고, 이 율법서에 쓰인 그분의 계명들과 규정들을 지키며, 마음을 다하고 목숨을 다하여 주 너희 하느님께 돌아오너라. 11 내가 오늘 너희에게 명령하는 이 계명은 너희에게 힘든 것도 아니고 멀리 있는 것도 아니다. 12 그것은 하늘에 있지도 않다. 그러니 ‘누가 하늘로 올라가서 그것을 가져다가 우리에게 들려주리오? 그러면 우리가 실천할 터인데.’ 하고 말할 필요가 없다. 13 또 그것은 바다 건너편에 있지도 않다. 그러니 ‘누가 바다 저쪽으로 건너가서 그것을 가져다가 우리에게 들려주리오? 그러면 우리가 실천할 터인데.’ 하고 말할 필요도 없다. 14 사실 그 말씀은 너희에게 아주 가까이 있다. 너희의 입과 너희의 마음에 있기 때문에, 너희가 그 말씀을 실천할 수 있는 것이다.”

10 if you obey the voice of Yahweh your God, by keeping his commandments and decrees written in the book of this Law, and if you return to Yahweh your God with all your heart and soul. 11 'For this Law which I am laying down for you today is neither obscure for you nor beyond your reach. 12 It is not in heaven, so that you need to wonder, "Who will go up to heaven for us and bring it down to us, so that we can hear and practise it?" 13 Nor is it beyond the seas, so that you need to wonder, "Who will cross the seas for us and bring it back to us, so that we can hear and practise it?" 14 No, the word is very near to you, it is in your mouth and in your heart for you to put into practice.

<누가 저의 이웃입니까?>
(해설) 사마리아 사람은 율법에 얽매이지 않고 상처 입은 사람을 보자 동정심을 느낍니다. 사제와 레위인은 율법에 얽매여 모든 인간들 마음 안에 심어 준 주님 사랑의 마음을 잃어버립니다. 도움을 필요로 하는 사람을 만나면 선입관을 버리고 도와주어야 합니다. 누가 이웃인가 따질 것이 아니라 진정으로 이웃이 되어 주어야 합니다.
그때에 25 어떤 율법 교사가 일어서서 예수님을 시험하려고 말하였다. “스승님, 제가 무엇을 해야 영원한 생명을 받을 수 있습니까?” 26 예수님께서 그에게 말씀하셨다. “율법에 무엇이라고 쓰여 있느냐? 너는 어떻게 읽었느냐?” 27 그가 “‘네 마음을 다하고 네 목숨을 다하고 네 힘을 다하고 네 정신을 다하여 주 너의 하느님을 사랑하고 네 이웃을 너 자신처럼 사랑해야 한다.’ 하였습니다.” 하고 대답하자, 28 예수님께서 그에게 이르셨다. “옳게 대답하였다. 그렇게 하여라. 그러면 네가 살 것이다.” 29 그 율법 교사는 자기가 정당함을 드러내고 싶어서 예수님께, “그러면 누가 저의 이웃입니까?” 하고 물었다. 30 예수님께서 응답하셨다.“어떤 사람이 예루살렘에서 예리코로 내려가다가 강도들을 만났다. 강도들은 그의 옷을 벗기고 그를 때려 초주검으로 만들어 놓고 가 버렸다. 31 마침 어떤 사제가 그 길로 내려가다가 그를 보고서는, 길 반대쪽으로 지나가 버렸다. 32 레위인도 마찬가지로 그곳에 이르러 그를 보고서는, 길 반대쪽으로 지나가 버렸다. 33 그런데 여행을 하던 어떤 사마리아인은 그가 있는 곳에 이르러 그를 보고서는, 가엾은 마음이 들었다. 34 그래서 그에게 다가가 상처에 기름과 포도주를 붓고 싸맨 다음, 자기 노새에 태워 여관으로 데리고 가서 돌보아 주었다. 35 이튿날 그는 두 데나리온을 꺼내 여관 주인에게 주면서, ‘저 사람을 돌보아 주십시오. 비용이 더 들면 제가 돌아올 때에 갚아 드리겠습니다.’ 하고 말하였다. 36 너는 이 세 사람 가운데에서 누가 강도를 만난 사람에게 이웃이 되어 주었다고 생각하느냐?” 37 율법 교사가 “그에게 자비를 베푼 사람입니다.” 하고 대답하자, 예수님께서 그에게 이르셨다. “가서 너도 그렇게 하여라.”

주님을 온 마음으로 사랑하고 그 사랑으로 이웃을 사랑해야 합니다. 주님을 사랑하는 사람은 항상 주님 안에서 살며 주님께서도 그 사람 안에 계십니다. 주님께서 가난하고 소외된 사람들 안에 계시기에 예수님께서도 그들과 함께 하십니다. 우리도 예수님처럼 자선과 봉사와 희생과 나눔 곧 사랑의 삶을 살아야 합니다.

1. '네 마음을 다하고 목숨을 다하고 뜻을 다하여 주님이신 너희 하느님을 사랑하라'는 구절은 나에게 어떤 의미로 들립니까? 나는 정말 주님을 몸과 정신과 뜻을 다하여 사랑하고 따르고 있습니까? 지금 내가 마음을 다하고 있는 것은 무엇입니까?
2. 예수님께서는 왜 '네 이웃을 네 몸같이 사랑하라'는 말씀을 강조하고 계십니까? 나의 이웃은 누구입니까? 내가 어렵고 힘들었을 때 나를 도와주었던 사람들은 누구입니까? 나는 어떻게 그들과 사랑을 나눌 수 있습니까?

A Good Samaritan
In our first reading from the Book of Deuteronomy we see Moses speaking to the people about the Word of God. He tells them that the Word is very close to them, so close in fact that they can observe it. The Word is not hidden from them in heaven but is among them: it is in their mouths and in their hearts. This comes after Moses had given the people the Laws which they were to observe and he reminded them that the Law was easy to observe and keep because the Word of God was close by, giving them the strength necessary to be faithful.
In our gospel text for today we have the story of the Good Samaritan. The story comes about in answer to a question posed by a lawyer who wanted to live righteously. Initially, the lawyer was trying to catch Jesus out but the answer he received ended up unsettling the lawyer himself. The man had asked Jesus what he had to do to inherit eternal life and Jesus reiterated the command to love God and neighbour. The man asked what exactly was meant by the term ‘neighbour’ and in reply he got the story of the Good Samaritan who is shown in stark contrast to those in the story who passed the victim by and did nothing to help. The Samaritans were not liked by the Jews and yet the lawyer admits that the Samaritan was the one who showed greater pity. This demonstrates that there must be no discrimination in our hearts with regard to our fellow men and women. The Word of God is among us and he walks this earth in the hearts of all whom we meet if we but open our eyes to that and seek him there. If we acknowledge that fact then we will find the Word of God wherever we go and we will be able to show that Word to our fellow men and women, as did the Good Samaritan.
For today and the next three Sundays our second reading comes from the letter to the Colossians and which is attributed to St Paul. In today’s passage, the author uses what is thought to be a very early Christian hymn to express the belief that Jesus Christ existed before all time and from him comes all of creation. In Old Testament thought, the Wisdom of God was the first created thing and it assisted God in the work of creation, and that idea is called to mind here where Jesus is the image of God, the first-born of creation, in whom creation takes place, and in whom all perfection is to be found. Through his sacrifice on the Cross everything has been reconciled and is at peace.
Prayer :
"Dearest Lord, may I see you today and every day in the person of your sick, and whilst nursing minister to you. Though you hide yourself behind the unattractive disguise of the irritable, the exacting, the unreasonable, may I still recognize you and say: ‘Jesus, my patient, how sweet it is to serve you.’ Lord, give me this seeing faith, then my work will never be monotonous. I will ever find joy in humoring the fancies and gratifying the wishes of all poor sufferers. O beloved sick, how doubly dear you are to me, when you personify Christ; and what a privilege is mine to be allowed to tend you. Sweetest Lord, make me appreciative of the dignity of my high vocation, and its many responsibilities. Never permit me to disgrace it by giving way to coldness, unkindness, or impatience. And, O God, while you are Jesus, my patient, deign also to be to me a patient Jesus, bearing with my faults, looking only to my intention, which is to love and serve you in the person of each of your sick. Lord, increase my faith, bless my efforts and work, now and for evermore. - Amen

이탈리아 복치아니코에서 출생한 성 카밀루스(또는 가밀로)는 군인으로서 터키인들을 대항한 베네치아(Venezia)를 위하여 전투에 참가하였고, 도박에 빠졌으며, 1574년경에는 무일푼의 신세가 되어 나폴리(Napoli) 거리를 방황하였다. 그는 몸이 건장하고 성미가 급한 사람이라 하는 일마다 뜻대로 되는 일이 없었다. 그러다가 1575년 우연히 설교를 듣고 심경의 변화가 일어나서, 두 번씩이나 프란치스코회에 입회하려고 노력했으나 일생동안 그를 괴롭힌 다리병 때문에 뜻을 이루지 못하였다. 그래서 그는 자신을 이기는 방법의 하나로 다른 환자들을 돌보는 일에 정력을 쏟았으며, 로마(Roma)의 산 자코모 병원에 자원으로 봉사하다가 곧 그 병원의 회계를 맡았다.
이러한 경험은 병원의 놀라운 상황과 제 문제점들에 눈을 뜨게 만들었다. 그래서 그는 자신의 고해신부이던 성 필리푸스 네리우스(Philippus Nerius, 5월 26일)의 권고를 받아들여 1584년에 사제로 서품되었고, 이미 사제와 평수사들로 회를 구성하였던 병자들의 봉사자회(The Camellians)를 세웠다. 그들은 로마의 주요 병원에서 사목하다가 1585년에는 자신들의 병원을 세웠으며, 특히 로마 항의 배들을 통하여 전염되는 흑사병자들에게 관심을 기울여 치료하였다. 그는 항상 창문을 열어 놓고, 적당한 음식물을 먹게 하고, 전염병일 경우는 격리하는 방법을 그는 활용하였고, 그의 사제들은 항상 숨을 거두는 환자들 곁에 있었으며, 임종자들의 장례 등에도 큰 관심을 보이게 하여 세인들의 칭송이 높았다.
그러나 그 자신의 건강은 점차 악화되어 도저히 임무를 수행할 수 없게 되자 1607년에 자신의 장상직을 사임하였다. 그러나 개인적으로는 늘 환자들을 방문하면서 자신이 죽는 날까지 그렇게 하다가 제노바(Genova)에서 운명하였다. 그는 1742년 교황 베네딕투스 14세(Benedictus XIV)에 의해 복자품에 올랐고, 이어 1746년 같은 교황으로부터 시성되었다. 또한 교황 레오 13세(Leo XIII)에 의하여 천주의 성 요한(Joannes, 3월 8일)과 함께 모든 병자들의 수호성인으로 선언되었고, 교황 비오 11세(Pius XI)로부터는 모든 간호사와 간호 단체의 수호성인으로 선포되었다.
