Monday of the Fourth Week of Easter
+ 사도행전 11,1-18
< 이제 하느님께서는 다른 민족들에게도 생명에 이르는 회개의 길을 열어 주셨다. >
해설) 베드로 사도는 사도들의 으뜸이지만 예루살렘 모교회 공동체의 의견을 존중했습니다. 그래서 그는 자신의 행동을 문제시하는 사도단에게 상황을 설명했습니다. 코르넬리우스 개종 사건의 문제는 음식 규정과 이방인과의 식탁 친교입니다. 베드로 사도가 이방인들과 함께 음식을 나눈 사실이 문제가 된 것입니다.
그 무렵 1 사도들과 유다 지방에 있는 형제들이 다른 민족들도 하느님의 말씀을 받아들였다는 소문을 들었다. 2 그래서 베드로가 예루살렘에 올라갔을 때에, 할례 받은 신자들이 그에게 따지며, 3 “당신이 할례 받지 않은 사람들의 집에 들어가 그들과 함께 음식을 먹다니요?” 하고 말하였다. 4 그러자 베드로가 그들에게 차근차근 설명하기 시작하였다. 5 “내가 야포 시에서 기도하다가 무아경 속에서 환시를 보았습니다. 하늘에서 큰 아마포 같은 그릇이 내려와 네 모퉁이로 내려앉는데, 내가 있는 곳까지 오는 것이었습니다. 6 내가 그 안을 유심히 바라보며 살피니, 이 세상의 네발 달린 짐승들과 들짐승들과 길짐승들과 하늘의 새들이 보였습니다. 7 그때에 ‘베드로야, 일어나 잡아먹어라.’ 하고 나에게 말하는 소리가 들렸습니다. 8 나는 ‘주님, 절대 안 됩니다. 속된 것이나 더러운 것은 한 번도 제 입속에 들어오지 않았습니다.’ 하고 말하였습니다. 9 그러자 하늘에서 두 번째로 응답하는 목소리가 들렸습니다. ‘하느님께서 깨끗하게 만드신 것을 속되다고 하지 마라.’ 10 이러한 일이 세 번 거듭되고 나서, 그것들은 모두 하늘로 다시 끌려 올라갔습니다. 11 바로 그때에 세 사람이 우리가 있는 집에 다가와 섰습니다. 카이사리아에서 나에게 심부름 온 이들이었습니다. 12 성령께서는 나에게, 주저하지 말고 그들과 함께 가라고 이르셨습니다. 그래서 이 여섯 형제도 나와 함께 갔습니다. 우리가 그 사람 집에 들어가자, 13 그는 천사가 자기 집 안에 서서 이렇게 말하는 것을 보았다고 우리에게 이야기하였습니다. ‘야포로 사람들을 보내어, 베드로라고 하는 시몬을 데려오게 하여라. 14 그가 너에게 말씀을 일러 줄 터인데, 그 말씀으로 너와 너의 온 집안이 구원을 받을 것이다.’15 그리하여 내가 말하기 시작하자, 성령께서 처음에 우리에게 내리셨던 것처럼 그들에게도 내리셨습니다. 16 그때에 나는 ‘요한은 물로 세례를 주었지만, 너희는 성령으로 세례를 받을 것이다.’ 하신 주님의 말씀이 생각났습니다. 17 이렇게 하느님께서는 우리가 주 예수 그리스도를 믿게 되었을 때에 우리에게 주신 것과 똑같은 선물을 그들에게도 주셨는데, 내가 무엇이기에 하느님을 막을 수 있었겠습니까?” 18 그들은 이 말을 듣고 잠잠해졌다. 그리고 “이제 하느님께서는 다른 민족들에게도 생명에 이르는 회개의 길을 열어 주셨다.” 하며 하느님을 찬양하였다.
+ First Reading, Acts 11:1-18
1 The Apostles and the brothers who were in Judea heard that the Gentiles too had accepted the word of God. 2 So when Peter went up to Jerusalem the circumcised believers confronted him, 3 saying, 'You entered the house of uncircumcised people and ate with them." 4 Peter began and explained it to them step by step, saying, 5 "I was at prayer in the city of Joppa when in a trance I had a vision, something resembling a large sheet coming down, lowered from the sky by its four corners, and it came to me. 6 Looking intently into it, I observed and saw the four-legged animals of the earth, the wild beasts, the reptiles, and the birds of the sky. 7 I also heard a voice say to me, 'Get up, Peter. Slaughter and eat.' 8 But I said, 'Certainly not, sir, because nothing profane or unclean has ever entered my mouth.' 9 But a second time a voice from heaven answered, 'What God has made clean, you are not to call profane.' 10 This happened three times, and then everything was drawn up again into the sky. 11 Just then three men appeared at the house where we were, who had been sent to me from Caesarea. 12 The Spirit told me to accompany them without discriminating. These six brothers also went with me, and we entered the man's house. 13 He related to us how he had seen the angel standing in his house, saying, 'Send someone to Joppa and summon Simon, who is called Peter, 14 who will speak words to you by which you and all your household will be saved.' 15 As I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell upon them as it had upon us at the beginning, 16 and I remembered the word of the Lord, how he had said, 'John baptized with water but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.' 17 If then God gave them the same gift he gave to us when we came to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I to be able to hinder God?" 18 When they heard this, they stopped objecting and glorified God, saying, "God has then granted life-giving repentance to the Gentiles too."
묵상) 이방인들과 식탁 친교를 금지한 이유는 이방인들과 음식을 나누게 되면 영적으로도 그들과 교제하는 것이 되고, 따라서 그들의 우상 숭배에 가담하는 것으로 여겨지기 때문입니다. 그러나 하느님께서는 이방인에게도 똑같이 당신의 선물인 성령을 주셨습니다. 그래서 베드로 사도도 이방인에게 세례를 준 것입니다.

< 착한 목자는 양들을 위하여 자기 목숨을 내어 놓는다. >
해설) 예수님은 양들이 드나들 수 있는 문으로서, 양들이 드나들 수 있는 문은 하나밖에 없으며, 예수님 자신이 바로 그 문입니다. 그러므로 예수님만이 구원으로 이끄는 유일한 목자이시며 아버지께로 인도하시는 길이십니다. 이런 예수님의 자기 계시의 말씀은 하느님으로부터 파견된 메시아, 곧 종말론적인 구원자로서 절대적인 의미를 지닙니다.
그때에 예수님께서 말씀하셨다. 11 나는 착한 목자다. 착한 목자는 양들을 위하여 자기 목숨을 내놓는다. 12 삯꾼은 목자가 아니고 양도 자기 것이 아니기 때문에, 이리가 오는 것을 보면 양들을 버리고 달아난다. 그러면 이리는 양들을 물어 가고 양 떼를 흩어 버린다. 13 그는 삯꾼이어서 양들에게 관심이 없기 때문이다. 14 나는 착한 목자다. 나는 내 양들을 알고 내 양들은 나를 안다. 15 이는 아버지께서 나를 아시고 내가 아버지를 아는 것과 같다. 나는 양들을 위하여 목숨을 내놓는다. 16 그러나 나에게는 이 우리 안에 들지 않은 양들도 있다. 나는 그들도 데려와야 한다. 그들도 내 목소리를 알아듣고 마침내 한 목자 아래 한 양 떼가 될 것이다. 17 아버지께서는 내가 목숨을 내놓기 때문에 나를 사랑하신다. 그렇게 하여 나는 목숨을 다시 얻는다. 18 아무도 나에게서 목숨을 빼앗지 못한다. 내가 스스로 그것을 내놓는 것이다. 나는 목숨을 내놓을 권한도 있고 그것을 다시 얻을 권한도 있다. 이것이 내가 내 아버지에게서 받은 명령이다.”

Jesus said: 11 "I am the good shepherd. A good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. 12 A hired man, who is not a shepherd and whose sheep are not his own, sees a wolf coming and leaves the sheep and runs away, and the wolf catches and scatters them. 13 This is because he works for pay and has no concern for the sheep. 14 I am the good shepherd, and I know mine and mine know me, 15 just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I will lay down my life for the sheep. 16 I have other sheep that do not belong to this fold. These also I must lead, and they will hear my voice, and there will be one flock, one shepherd. 17 This is why the Father loves me, because I lay down my life in order to take it up again. 18 No one takes it from me, but I lay it down on my own. I have power to lay it down, and power to take it up again. This command I have received from my Father.”
묵상) 양들이 문으로 드나들면서 생명의 목초를 얻듯이, 사람들은 예수 그리스도를 통해서만이 참 구원을 얻게 됩니다. 예수님은 당신을 믿고 따르는 자들에게 생명을 약속한 계시자이며 종말론적 구원자로서 계시된 분입니다. 예수님으로 인해 얻게 된 생명은 신적인 생명, 곧 영원한 생명이며 죽음의 세력을 이겨내는 종말론적인 생명입니다.
주께서는 당신의 양들을 지키기 위해 목숨을 바치십니다. 목자가 백 마리 양 중 길 잃은 한 마리 양을 찾아 나서듯이 주님께서도 울타리 밖의 양들을 모으실 것입니다. 하느님께서는 이스라엘 민족을 선택하시고 이끄셨습니다. 이제는 예수님의 말씀을 받아들이고 따르는 새로운 이스라엘 백성 공동체의 하느님이 되어주셨습니다.

나는 착한 목자다
+ 요한 10,11-18
1. 나는 양이고 나의 목자는 예수 그리스도입니다. 나는 주님의 양으로서 어떻게 살고 있습니까? 주님은 나를 어떻게 이끌고 계십니까? 나는 다른 양들과 함께 주님의 이끄심에 잘 따르며 살고 있습니까?
2. 양들을 돌보는 목자의 모습을 상상해 보십시오. 목자는 양들을 어떻게 보살피고 있습니까? 왜 예수님은 당신의 양들을 위해 자신의 목숨을 바친다고 하십니까? 그분은 무엇 때문에 당신의 목숨을 바치셨습니까?
Today’s Gospel Reflection : John 10:11-18
We begin today to consider two images that Jesus gives of himself: the first is that of a gate and the second that of a shepherd.
We have to imagine a sheepfold as an area surrounded by walls or wooden fencing but open to the sky, and with only one entrance. The walls kept the sheep from wandering and protected them from wild animals at night. Only a genuine shepherd enters the sheepfold through the single gate. Thieves and brigands will try to enter by another way, such as by climbing over the walls or breaking through the fence.
“All who came before me are thieves and robbers but the sheep do not listen to them.” Jesus is referring to all the “false shepherds”, including some of the Pharisees and religious leaders of his time who are quite unlike the true prophets of the past.
The real shepherd, however, enters by the gate and is recognised and admitted by the gatekeeper (the one mentioned above who sleeps across the entrance). There are many sheep in the sheepfold belonging to different shepherds so the shepherd calls his own sheep out one by one. He then walks ahead of them and they follow their shepherd because they know his voice. They never follow strangers.
We are told that his hearers failed to understand the meaning of what Jesus said. They failed to realise that the parable applied particularly to the religious leaders.
So he spoke more clearly: “I AM the gate of the sheepfold.” Here we have the second of the seven ‘I AM’ statements made by Jesus in this gospel. Again Jesus’ points to his divine origin by using the name of God which was given to Moses at the burning bush (Exodus 3:14).
On the contrary, Jesus, as the Gate, the Way, has come “that they may have life and have it to the full.” This is a constant theme we have heard many times already and especially in chapter 6 about Jesus as the food and nourishment giving us life.
Personal Question :
• Is my obedience to God, disciplinary or prophetic? Do I reveal something of God or am I only concerned about my own salvation?
• Jesus does not submit himself to the exigencies of those who want to verify if he is the Messiah. In me, is there something of this attitude of dominion and of inquiry of the enemies of Jesus?
Prayer: As a deer yearns for running streams, so I yearn for you, my God. I thirst for God, the living God; when shall I go to see the face of God? (Ps 42,1-2). Amen

성 암브로시우스(Ambrosius, 12월 7일)는 성 펠릭스(Felix, 7월 12일)와 성 나보르(Nabor, 7월 12일)와 함께 성 빅토르 마우루스(또는 빅토르 마우로)가 밀라노(Milano)의 수호성인이라고 한다. 그는 아프리카 북서부 대서양 연안 마우레타니아(Mauretania, 현재의 모로코와 알제리에 해당하는 지역의 로마시대 명칭) 태생으로 빅토르라는 다른 순교자와 구분하기 위하여 마우루스라고 부른다. 그는 로마 황제 근위군의 무어인 군인이었으나 어려서부터 그리스도교 신앙을 지켜왔다. 그는 막시미아누스 황제의 박해 때 밀라노에서 체포되어 신앙 때문에 고문을 당하고 화덕에 구워지는 형벌을 받고 순교하였다. 그에 대한 공경은 급속히 퍼져 영국까지 번졌고, 투르(Tours)의 성 그레고리우스(Gregorius, 11월 17일)는 밀라노 외곽에 있는 그의 무덤에서 일어난 기적들에 대해 기록하였다. 성 카롤루스 보로메오(Carolus Borromeo, 11월 4일)는 1576년 그의 유해를 밀라노에 그를 위해 봉헌한 성당으로 옮겨 모셨다.
